Default OEM front spoiler installation question

Just installed the front lip - looks great - can't believe how it changes the look of the car. I did it in weather above 60 degrees (about 75 to be exact) as the instructions recommend due to the need to get the tape to stick. I did the job three days ago - and haven't driven the car since.

The question is this - the sucker is bolted on tight, but the lip will pull back from the top if you test it. I tried it out to see how tight it was. Some areas are very tight and won't pull back, but parts of the front will pull back (maybe 1 or 2 mm). It's not much, and I'm not worried about rubbing since the area that pulls back has the rubber contact, but I wanted to check with you guys just in case.

Thanks in advance.

i think that's fairly normal. at least on the lips i've seen. a couple millimeters play is barely noticeable unless you're really trying to look hard.

Thanks WI. I don't see a gap unless I check the stickiness of the tape-to-the-bumper by squeezing on the lip. Squeezing reveals that the gap will open up 1-2 mm - thereby indicating that the tape isn't sticking too well.

Just sitting there - it's contact all the way around.

Just a comparison note here... I had mine put on at Honda and it's ROCK solid. No movement in any way.. You couldn't get a mm out of it if you tried.

Spokane, have you tried pinching the front of the lip to see if you could verify the adhesion of the tape?

Hi Harpoon,

any drilling/modifications required to install this lip? Or does it use factory mounting locations + double side tape?

No drilling or mods required to install. Everything goes on perfect - just as the instructions that come with it say. It does help to have a helper to hold one end of the lip while you mess with the other end.

There was one slight surprise though. The directions state that you should remove clips that are already on the car. I didn't do this because there is absolutely no benefit to it. The clips don't even come close to the area the lip rests on. I re-read the instructions about 10 times and thought I was retarded, but decided not to do it. Glad I didn't because those things sometimes get broken and you have to buy new ones.

I'm pretty technically challenged and I'm glad I didn't bother taking it to someone to do.

there are holes under the bumper that you will just use bolts and nuts to bolt up. the sides use self tapping screws which the oem provides.
