Default overheating, No VTEC?

I had a coolant line break on me and I assume my engine began to heat up on me because of it (I have a AEM EMS so I don't have a temperature guage), would this overheating cause my S to deactivate VTEC? I only ask because I was tweaking my programming that morning (with a professional) and would like to know whether I made a mistake with my tweaks or if it was most likely because of the overheating?
