S2000 CEL stays on, but only EPS light throws code
Hello everyone,
Reaching out for help here as I am stumped. I have an s2000 with CEL and can feel power steering work when turning right, but when turning left it is quite hard as if there was no power steering (which I believe is a common issue). When driving, the CEL stays on and the EPS light is off suggesting nothing is wrong with it.
Here is the kicker, when I put the car into diagnostics mode by bridging the pins, only the EPS light responds (2 long flashes/blinks, followed by 2 short flashes/blinks). The CEL stays on but doesn't flash or blink to give me a code.
I've checked the forums and looks like 2 long, 2 short flashes for EPS doesn't exist (unless someone else has experienced this)? Has anyone else experienced this and know how can I get the CEL to flash and provide me with a code so I can start further diagnostics?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

For the EPS each long blink means 10 each short blink means 1. In your case your EPS code is 22 which is a vehichle speed sensor issue.

EPS steering hard in one direction and easy in the other will throw no code. Performing the Torque-Neutral-Position-Relearn will cure it, guaranteed.
CEL is not related to this problem in any way.

Ohhhh right that would make sense. Will take a further look into that thanks!
Thank you for the suggestion on the torque-neutral-position-relearn. Will definitely take a look at that.
Yeah I’d assume that wouldn’t trigger the CEL. That’s the weird part. When I bridge the pins, only the EPS light does the diagnostic blinking. CEL remains on and static, won’t flash or turn off and will stay on while driving.
Was hoping if there was another trick to get the CEL to flash or blink instead so I can take a further look into that. I’m from Australia so bit more challenging to get it scanned as we have different diagnostic plugs
