Default Shifter rotation

I've noticed that my shifter (NOT just the knob, but the whole shifter stalk) rotates a lot (+/- 90 deg at least). Shifting works, and I'm being careful not to rotate it, but I wonder what's up. Does anyone have any ideas? (This is a week-old 2005.) Thanks, HPH

Sounds like the rubber bond is defective, 90% is way too much. 15 tops maybe. I'd ask for a new shifter under warr....

Thanks -- and, given the lack of experts' pouncing on this, it must be unusual. I'll take it in forthwith, shifting very carefully all the way. HPH

Doesn't sound right to me, it shouldn't rotate more than a few degrees.
