Default Slight Clunking Sound On Start-up and Shutdown ?

Hi all, I get a slight clunk sound when I start my engine , and tiny amount on shutdown. Just wondering if this is normal on the s2k, I haven't driven other cars so I don't know. My 02 has 55,000 kms on it, I've only owned it for a few months so I don't know what it was like new. The sound only lasts a fraction of a second, it doesn't bother me but I want to be sure that something isn't broken in the engine bay. When driving the engine and tranny are perfectly smooth in all situations and all rpms. Any opinions on whether this sound is normal for s2k's or not would be helpful. thanks very much for reading.

no one else detect a clunking sound ?, could a broken engine mount do this , without exhibiting any sound or vibration when driving ?.

Is it the same sound you get when you are sloppy with the clutch and the rpm drops below 1k?

yes actually I think it does do it when the rpms drop really low and it is close to stalling, the same type of noise. thanks for mentioning that.

ah okay, so it's just some type of drivetrain lash or the like. Thanks for the reply on that. much appreciated.

Try clean TB/IAC and adjust TB cable. That should help.

yup that is a good comparison, pretty much that's what it sounds like, though less pronounced. Perhaps that has to do with the engine being higher compression. I had the car out today with the top down all day and it seemed like the noise/sensation was less pronounced with the roof down, probably less material to rattle through with the top off. Thanks for all of the replies.
