If my AP2 sits at idle for more than like...5 mins, it will start billowing an alarming amount of smoke.
It burns almost no oil during regular or track use.
But I get a ton of crankcase blowby in the valve cover. This car's primary purpose is for the track...which kinda necessitates catch cans. I had to use a lot of cunning and recirculate the cans...or I would die inside the cabin from fumes.
The entire situation is inexplicable. So...I've just gone on with my life and let the car live its life.
This doesn't help the OP. But it sure makes me feel better.
So I'm getting the car ready for storage. I did an oil change a week ago and also put the catalyst back on for the car's emissions test so I could get that outta the way.
I idled for like 20+ mins at the testing line. Zero smoke.
Took the car out for a drive and as I'm waiting in a drive thru the car started smoking again. It cleared as I drove for a bit but after coming back home and letting it idle on the driveway, it began to very lightly smoke again.

So, you weren't the one with the catalytic converter fix? You do have your cat on the exhaust. Right?
Did you ever do a leak-down and/or compression test on the engine? Has the oil consumption recently increased?
Had a hiccup with the borescope device but got the compression test and leak down test done. The compression is between 220-228psi while the leak down is about 10%. All cylinders have similar numbers.
