Default Swapping the tranny next weekend...AP2 in AP1

Ok so I bought a AP2 tranny today. 2005 with 30K miles for $930, not a bad deal if you ask me.

Well I just want to make sure I know everything I will need to do. I know I will need to change the housing that hooks up to the engine. So swap those from each other, then I know the AP2 has the clutch delay thing. I read somewhere that this can be disabled somehow, but I am not sure if I want it disabled. If I hook my AP1 cylinder up to it will it automatically cancel this out or will it work? Also I am not 100% sure but will the AP2 tranny hook directly up to my drive shaft?

Finally I have about 5,000-7,000 miles on my complete competition clutch pressure plate, throwout bearing and flywheel. Do you think I would need to swap anything out, like get a new throw out bearing or anything? Everything grips fine and all, I just wasnt sure if the clutch buzz thing hurts anything down there? I was going to get my flywheel resurfaced just cause I can do it for free at the dealership down here, but would you guys recommend replacing anything with that low of miles on the setup already?

Oh and one more thing, whats the part number or specs to the bolts that will hold the housing and tranny together? I want to get a few extra just in case I strip a few...

PS- if anyone is in the snellville/lawrenceville GA area and wants to have fun next weekend let me know...lol

THANKS

ok so i found the info about the master cylinder and the delay valve. Pretty much the AP2 master cylinder is the cause of the delay thing. I will use my ap1 so there is no problem there. I am still trying to figure out if the AP2 bolts directly to the AP1 drive shaft.

Please is anyone knows off their head post up. THANKS

I am not 100% sure, but I believe the AP2 tranny will not bolt up to your driveshaft unless you change the flange thats out on the tranny tailend.

I believe the AP1 has smaller bolts that attach the driveshaft to the transmission.

I am looking online and it seems like I need a 27mm socket to remove the bolt holding the flange, but then it says to use a special tool to loosen it up, anyone know what this is...

I have an ap2 transmission in my AP1. It bolts up to the motor with no modifications. As you found out, you will want to re-use your ap1 slave cylinder. You *will* need to remove the output flange from your old transmission and swap it onto the new one. This will allow the new transmission to mate up with your original driveshaft. I'd re-use all the clutch bits, unless you think you have been especially harsh on it, in which case I'd replace the friction disk.

thanks guys. I got my tranny in today. Time to take the companion flange off and clean her up before I throw it in the car.

Yeah you get better syncros and the gearing is better. The first 4 gears are slightly lower resembling a 4.20 rear end instead of the 4.10 and the 5&6 gears are both further over driven giving you a lower rpm on the frwy. Its the best of both worlds. When my trans gives up I will be swapping in an Ap2 trans as well.
