VAFC location
i seen a really nice place where i would mount it which was on the door to the cd player. i remember the guy talking about that it was cut by a laser and it looked really clean. i thought he was selling the headunit doors for vfac already precut but i don't know who it was. that looked to me the nicest place to put it.
It seems like the best mount for it would be one that could easily be restored before taking it in for warranty work (like Marcucci's). I would bet that the dealer would give you a hard time about warrantying anything relating to the drivetrain if they can prove that you have one, especially if it were a #4 cylinder failure or something.
The radio door would probably be easier for that- since you would have your old one left. Getting the wiring through the pillar isn't that hard, but it would be easier to stuff it up under the dash over to the radio.
I wanted mine a little more stealthy, though, and despite that guy's best efforts, I still think it's uglier than sin placed there.

Is the cable from the VAFC control box hard wired, or can it just be unplugged? I haven't seen one loose, but it looks like it could just be unscrewed, unplugged, and replaced by the original light. Is that not the case?
The VAFC comes with a connectorized harness that has pigtails intended to be bullet-connectored in place. You can either blow $150+ on a Field install harness (provides a tap to butcher, instead of the OEM wiring), or you can just hack the stock wiring. It requires several lines to be physically cut and interrupted/spoofed.
As it is shipped you can't easily uninstall it (installed into OEM wiring). You could conceivably make a jumper for the connector to remove the VAFC and jumper the "cut" connections. With the Field or similar harness you can just remove that and be done.
The VAFC comes with double-stick tape and a piano-hinge deal to mount it. It has no ears, tabs, etc. to aid in this. You either tape it, glue it, drill holes, or do something fancy like I did.
