I swear the order in the Helm manual is incorrect. I do use the described method to orient the timing gear, but I seem to recall the specified valves were not always the ones fully opened. Granted, a monkey could see which valves are open based on the current timing gear location. I've only done it once though, so I might have poor memory.

 

I think I have done 1/2 dozen or more. My manual is an 02 version, and we have an 06 version on the bench. I have always followed the process and it worked to a T.

 

Alright I will invest some money and get one, greatly appreciate the input and help.
