Wasn't the dealership fault that the OP decided to put on a non OEM part and forgot to tighten down the bolts.
$270 does sound like a lot but then again the dealership needs to be compensated to fix a problem that wasn't covered under warranty.
In any case, the 'mechanic' needs to foot the bill

I thought the OP meant the mechanic at the dealership, but maybe I need how to read between the lines...

My mechanic is very very reputable and he's helped many people on this site. And he probably just had a bad day.
So i'm not tripping that bad. Things happen sometimes and if it happened to me, i guess that just means i did something wrong and karma is getting me back this time
O well

80 miles is a lot. Call Norman Taylor. www.normantaylor.com
They can send the dealer a letter for about 300$ if worse comes to worse.

So there were bolts missing the driveshaft wasn't connected to the diff...
hmm and when they looked at ur car and said it was ur clutch they couldn't see a disconnected driveshaft...
And they actually pulled ur tranny to and then found that out.
Well if this is the case I would nvr take it back to that dealer after this.

This still sounds fishy! I mean... All 6 bolts came out of the half shaft? BOTH HALF SHAFTS? I dunno about all that! You do know that with that low mileage there is no wear marks created in the CV housing so spacers are not necessary?
It's quite possible that the bolts came out for only one of the half-shafts - with no load at all on one of the wheels, the Torsen LSD would act like a regular open diff, and would just spin the one side.
And that should have been obvious after a quick visual inspection - for the dealership to want to pull the transmission means they didn't do any diagnostics on the issue at all.
