I was trying to hunt down some rattles in my car, and found this guy.



What is this cap for? Should I put it back on or just toss it?

 

looks like the cap to that fpr thing, just pop it back on

 

Okay, I was wondering what the fpr thing is. I imagine its to keep that thing clean, but the cap no longer fits - probably warped from heat. I guess I'll get a new one from the dealer.

 

If you have a heat gun, heat it a couple of times until it goes on, if not try running some hot water over it.

and teh FPR is the Fuel Pressure Regulator.

That is the fuel rail pulsation dampner or muffler. It does vibrate a lot, but smoothes the fuel stream since the fuel pump sets up fuel pulses.

The fuel regulator is actually to the right of the fuel rail dampner.

 

i knew it wasnt the fpr, i just couldnt remember what it was called, so its the fprd, gay

 

It's a pulsation damper, which is supposed to make the injectors less noisy.
