I'm glad you are ok Ellen. How is the driver doing? Was this at Lake George?

I agree. I spend way more time there lately w/o having New England and now I sit here crying reading Vintage All right that's not the only reason but it sure has not helped.

I was in a serious car accident today (yesterday now) - not in my car - but the S I was riding in is probably totaled. We both could have been VERY seriously injured. Backwards into a tree. I cried over the S too.

I hit my head very hard, enough to raise a good sized bump. I seem to be OK but it's the first time I have ever been scared in an S2000. I had just enough time to think "wow, I wish I was wearing my helmet because I could die" and then we hit.
I could tell that you were shaken up last night, Ellen.....sorry that I didn't get a chance to give you the +1 hug.

I hope to remedy that this morning at Dave's tech session. Having been in a spin-out 3 years ago in my S, I know exactly what you meant about thinking "I could die".

The driver was "Jonathan" ....I think from the MetroNY area. I think that he was trying to show off his new aftrer-mkt suspension and lost it on a curve.

I saw Jonathan late yesterday at the HQ hotel here in Lake George and he was fine. Sadly, the same cannot be said for his S....

Martha and Jerry,

In the past, I've had my run-ins with both of you, and many others on the Vintage forum. I don't offer these thoughts with the pretense that I am some paragon of decorum. I offer them as someone with experience in embarassing himself by his own behavior on the board, behavior that I later regretted.

This has gone on long enough. You are both too close to the battle to see what is happening. You may be damaging the community and your own images in the community. If you care about those things, then please stop the public debate. If you both believe this fight has merit, I urge you to take it to the admins by PM. The only people who want to see this continue in public are the people who go to races to see the crashes. You are both better than this.

Peace.
I will let Martha have the last word. Yes, peace.

Today should be a day of rest for all....it's been a long weekend for more ways than one. Spending 4 days in your brother's house while he is dealing with a progressive and deadly disease is not fun. I'm glad to have had respite with a bunch of my S2000 friends here in Lake George.

Wow! Glad your OK, how is the driver? Was it the wet roads that increased the chance of the accident? Appx how quick were you going?
Levi
Levi, the roads here were generally dry yesterday. I'm sure Ellen will give more details later, but both were OK.....just very shaken up.

Hope you are alright and I hope you were checked out at a medical facility! Anytime you take a blow to the head you need to be checked, head and neck injuries are nothing to sneeze at.

I'm glad that both Ellen and Jonathan are OK. Cars can be replaced.

Jonathan is a member of the VA/WVA Chapter. This happened after the group drives. His S had a Mugen suspension which he told Ellen about. Ellen wanted to see how the car handled so he took Ellen for a ride in order to demonstrate the suspension and lost it in a corner. The roads were dry but I think there was gravel on the road.

He had a Racaro seat and a four point harness. He wasn't hurt. Ellen was in the passenger seat wearing the regular Honda belt. Ellen was tossed around the cabin violently and hit her head, probably on the console. I believe she refused the hospital but had an ice pack on her head yesterday evening. She seemed alright, except for the bump on her head. She promised to go to a doctor when she gets home. I didn't see her this morning, she was still sleeping, but I'm sure she's bruised up.

Jonathan's car is probably totaled. It is going to be flatbedded to Richmond, VA. I drove Jonathan to Penn Station, NYC so that he could catch a train home. He probably won't be home until 11:00 tonight.

He had quite a bit of suspension and stereo mods in his car, most of which will probably be lost.

Ironically, because he is unemployed, he wasn't going to attend, but decided to attend at the last minute.

Not a happy thing. I only hope Ellen is alright.

Sorry I just have to add more about this (since mostly we have so little real experience with this type of thing).

The car really did protect me fairly well. We must have been doing at least 40 when we back ended into the first tree. The car bounced and slid right and hit another tree which ripped the mirror off the passenger side door which got really wrinkled up on the outside...

The inside door panel stayed pristine, not dented or mangled even a little. The door stayed shut and opened just fine to let me out of the car. Granted it would not close after I got out but it really did hold up pretty well for a little car.

(See above post re: obsession)

Oh, and I even remembered to lie to the cop about my age when he asked me so I am pretty sure I do not have any serious injuries Me, Vintage? No way

Edit for the thought police: I gave the officer my correct birth date and age, then immediately amended it to "no wait, I'm only 36"
