Rob, Sea Girt is much closer to NYC than it is to Cape May.
Yes, you are right. I just checked the distance from Sea Girt to Cape May and it is greater than I thought. Sea Girt would be out of the question.

I'm not so sure that Cape May is such a good idea for a fall meet anyway. It is way too far east for the people in Ohio and west. I wonder if a more centrally located meet would be better. Personally, I'd love to go back to Lake George, but, we've done that and we should try to visit a new area each time.

Perhaps Pennsylvania, somewhere around Gettysburg. I think we could, with Jerry's help, work in a great drive, and I'm sure there are hotels and restaurants in the area.

We've just done two in New York State and the NorEaster is in New England. The next Spring Fling is in Virginia and the Tomcatt Memorial is in Ohio. It may be time to return to PA.

I've never seen any reference to New Jersey as being located south of the Mason-Dixon Line, Zip. If you're simply wanting to be a southern boy , then I would suggest you move to Maryland. If you're wanting to be a northern boy, then I would suggest you tout the fact that you live North of the Mason-Dixon. Recent article I read about a relatively new exhibit in Williamsburg. There is no reference whatsoever to Jersey mentioned that I can find. Perhaps in the division of the colonies parts of Jersey were formerly part of Pennsylvania, but I'm not an expert. All I'm sure about is that Maryland is south of the line and Pennsylvania is north and since Pennsy is north, the logical assumption would place Jersey totally out of the picture:

Colonial Williamsburg has recently put on display the original drawing of the Mason-Dixon Line map, a magnificent historical document produced in 1768 to determine the official boundaries between the colonies of Maryland and Pennsylvania. Once owned by Malcolm Forbes Jr., president of Forbes magazine, the map is on loan to Colonial Williamsburg by an anonymous donor and is part of

Lynchburg to Gettysburg:

Total Est. Time: 4 hours, 18 minutes

Total Est. Distance: 231.25 miles

Looks doable for me.

We're pushing 8 1/2 hours on that one. I don't know that either of us could get the Friday off. We'd be a maybe for that destination.

The interesting thing about Gettysburg is that it is a perfect place to see in the fall, there are plenty of things to see, and the drive could be interesting both for the types of roads that we'd be on and for the drive through the battlefield that Jerry would take us on.

Jerry is an expert on the Battle of Gettysburg. A few of us had the pleasure of having a guided tour through the battlefield with him a year ago. If he would act as tour guide in that portion of the drive I'm sure we'd all enjoy it. Also, there are some great driving roads outside of Gettysburg.

I wouldn't expect the area to be crowded in the fall as kids are back in school, and aside from rain, it should be good top down weather.

Gettysburg was the location for the very first Fall Colors Event. Rick Hesel ran it and might have hotel and drive info.

I'd be interested, only 4hrs from NYC. A guided tour of the battlefield sounds solemn but it's good to remember.
