We'll be hanging around this weekend, and hope for some nice weather for at least a short ride in the "S." We are not big baseball fans, but have to watch the Red Sox win! Did anyone see Shilling on Letterman?

Even though I've got plenty of time to check out the S2KI sites while at work, October can be hectic. We haul boats for storage and it seems EVERYONE wants their boat out between the Columbus day and the 31st. I even had one customer who was not scheduled, ask "can you haul me before him?" He actually managed to "cut the line" so to speak. Boat people can be even more obsessive than car people! (not my favorite time of year at work.)

It would be nice if Fall Colors is in New England next year!
Lainey, what does your company do? I didn't know you hauled boats.

I'm with Ms. Val on this one - hope it's a little closer to Texas than Greenland, since I'm planning on driving up (and since the drive each way will last longer than the event!).

Dean, what degree will you end up with after you finish your doctoral?

Bill, have we become more important and that's why we're so busy now? Nah - people have just figured us out and know who the workhorses are.

Won't be watching any baseball - I do the Cliff Notes version on the news. If there is any motorsports on, I may tune into that. We're painting the kitchen right now, so that'll take some of the weekend. We have a Triumph club breakfast Saturday a.m., a British car open house Saturday afternoon, and an employee appreciation dinner for husband's work Saturday night, so there goes most of Saturday. Sunday we'll have to work on the route for a rallye we're hosting mid-November for the Triumph club with hors d'oeuvres and wine at a nearby winery and dinner at our house afterward Just too much going on this year to make Fall Colors, and being a fairly new owner and not knowing how much excitement it generated, I didn't plan far enough ahead this year to take off for it.
I never got too involved with the local Austin Healey club. Probably because my car has never been finished. If I can finish it this winter, maybe I'll get involved with them this spring. How do the Triumph folks react to your S2000?

Wow Dean.....
My focus is on Philosophy as well this week. I'm really into Freud. That's because I'm busy planning body paint fantasyfest costumes for the weekend after this in Key West.

It's really hard work but someone has to do it. So if anyone has any ideas we lay them out on a paint program use them for guides and samples. So if you have any thoughts on a good body paint idea let me know.

We do free body painting Thursday afternoon if anyones down there partying like us. Out best idea this year is a girl painted as a bloody tiger...She's traveling with Roy and half a neck and an arm that falls off. Hibiscus boobies are another fun one.

Just thought I'd spice up Bills thread.

You're a lucky guy. I'd kill to live in the Keys. I sent my curriculum vitae to the Community College of the Keys before moving back to Florida. However, I think there's a five thousand year long backlog of applications for professorships there.
As much as I'd like to, I can't help you with the body paint. I'm totally devoid of any artistic talent, and Martha would probably smack me upside the head for trying.

I got my bachelor's degree in philosophy. It was a great major to prepare me for law school. How many other degrees do you have Dean?
I have three degrees in Biology, and a degree in Criminal Justice (I was a parole officer in NYC in another life many, many years ago), although I've forgotten almost all of the CJ stuff.

Dean - AAARRRRGGGGGHHHH! I have no degrees - don't really care to have one, either (rather, don't care to spend the time trying to get one), but I am really impressed. So what will you do with the new degree? I'd become an FBI profiler - but that's just me! Did you see the movie "I, Robot"? I guess you could always program artificial intelligence with emotions

Bill - Clubs are a bunch of fun - we've formed some of our closest friendships through club activities. We do stuff individually with the Triumph club and have occasional joiners from other clubs, and we do stuff as a big British car group a couple of times a year, too. They make fun of me when I take the S2000 rather than the Triumph - they're all jealous! Actually they love the car and were excited when I got it. It makes it a lot easier to plan rallyes (rather than having to take the Spitfire so we get the correct perspective on questions and things that can be seen from a bug's view, we can do it in the comfort of the S2K).

Fltsflshr - I'm thinking automotive body paint would be cool (I won't say which parts would be the headlights). There used to be a Jaguar commercial where the cat turned into the car and vice-versa - you could do something like that. Thanks for the invitation, but remember, we're Vintage. Swimsuits are about as nekkid as I get in public!

Bill, I forgot to ask, what type of law do you practice? For some reason, my gut tells me that it's corporate.

Dean...

I live in Naples Fl..90 miles N of Key West...We have a new University going in here...funded like no other...the guy who started dominos pizza put up over 4 billion to fund Ave Maria University. They're building an entire city around it. Hmmm pizza business must be good.

Unfortunately they bought up one of the local rock stations and converted it to Gregorian Chants.

I'm going to apply for the Darwin Chair of Evolutionary Teachings. Of course I may have to endow it first.

Maybe I should order a pizza and a Margarita and think about it.

fltsfshr

and Roisey...with a mask, a tropical night and a good paint job....everybody looks good...especially after lots of rum.

fltsfshr

oh Yes one more thing...Go SOX

Me program anything? I have all I can to to find my way around Netscape and email. I haven't seen "I, Robot'" yet, but I plan to as soon as it's out on DVD.
If I end up going for another Ph.D., it'll mostly be to satisfy my own curiosity. I've wanted to teach a course on the History and Philosophy of Biology for years, but budget issues have always prevented it.
Don't be too impressed, most reasonable folks have no interest in, or any practical use for, all the useless crap stored in my head. I'm not so sure that I do either, but I'm such a dyed-in-the-wool geek that I can't help myself.

We were nearly neighbors a few years ago. I lived almost due East of you in Boynton Beach before moving to Texas.
AMU is news to me, thanks for the info. I'm going to have to look into them.

Dean - where in Texas did you live?

I'm with you on computer stuff - I know just enough to worry myself sometimes. "I, Robot" was surprisingly good. I was big into the fantasy stuff (no fltsflshr, I mean like Tolkein) and sci fi (H G Wells) when I was in junior high and early high school - just kind of got burned out on it (though I really enjoyed the first few Star Wars movies), so I let my husband talk me into "I, Robot" because I like Will Smith (as an actor and a person). It's one that I could watch again.

Oh, and fltsflshr, there was another good idea for body paint in this thread - since So. Fla (or most of Fla, for that matter) doesn't get much in the way of fall colors, why not do an autumn leaf collage?
