The Vintage Weather Thread
That's amazing! 16.74 inches of rainfall is definitely monsoon weather. The rainfall must be far more prevalent along the coastal areas— Clemson’s football game last Saturday was under a rainy sky, but far from a deluge.
Well wishes to SC.

Other areas got much more. Georgetown got more than 20 inches. Lots of people have had to be evacuated and it is expected to get worse before it gets better. Columbia, SC took a really big hit and dams have broken in several places. The entire state got inundated with 4 months' worth of rain in 3 days. Thanks for your sentiments. We're feeling like cave dwellers at the moment. The Governor has asked that those who are in a safe place should stay and not get out on the roadways. I did venture out a few miles this morning and there was almost no traffic, most places are closed but a few grocery stores and gas stations are open. Myrtle Beach seems to be slowly coming alive but there are still streets that look like rivers. I've been cautious taking my dogs out since snakes and alligators are reportedly roaming and Jim saw a coyote out in the yard this morning. I feel so fortunate to be safe and dry and the best part of all to still have electricity!!!!
We have had lovely sunshine for the past two days and moderate temps into the low 80s. The rivers are still flooding and new evacuations are ongoing in my county, but we're in the clear. The bad thing is the water has no place to go when it gets to sea level so we'll have standing water for some time. Lucky me, I'm 7 feet above sea level.
HOWEVER besides flooding and evacuations we've now been hit with a plague of mosquitoes throughout the area. The planes are flying over spraying to try to quell the threat. I so hope it does. We're hearing the constant drone of helicopters and planes bringing in National Guard to help with the flood relief and to do damage assessments and the like.

We've been having nice weather, but this weekend looks very chilly here - only in the 50s! The +1 and his teammates will have to contend with 30s at night while running the Bourbon Chase in KY. That's a bit too cold even for runners.
