Upper 80's here yesterday and today. Three of my nieces are coming over for burgers on the grill and pool time this evening. About time the rain stopped and we got some summer weather. We watched fireworks over the 4th in fleece jackets and jeans and were still cold.

My weather station says it's raining at 5.75" an hour. In the last 15 minutes we've gotten 1.5". I think I saw a fish swim by. It must be Summer.

It’s amazing how Florida can gulp-up that much rain. If rain fell at that rate in Colorado we’d be breaking out the inflatables, snorkels and flippers.

Our climate here is called tropical savannah. It' only exists along the sw coast of Florida. In the Summer temps will get up in the high 80's or low 90's every afternoon until the rains come. Right now it's 75 degrees. Most places N or E of us don't get that cooling effect. We'd set sail in the morning riding an E wind and about 3pm the boat would turn around and sail itself back.

It makes for beautiful sunsets.

With air conditioned buildings and cars the heat is bearable. At 106 degrees Phoenix/Scottsdale normally has a heat index of 100 degrees; it’s hot, but nothing to complain about unless you’re forced outside for a prolonged period. Most residents avoid the outside during the peak heat hours. Pay particular attention to the blue skies and eat outside on a restaurant’s patio tonight…You’ll enjoy it; and I guarantee there will be no mosquitoes or biting insects.

Return for a visit in the off-summer months (about 8 months of the year)…I believe you’ll like “The Valley of the Sun” a lot more than your full "summer on" experience.

An ex-Arizona resident.

Yeah, Phoenix gets hot for sure. The first time I visited was in the month of Aug. About 120. Then went to my cousin's vacation home up in Pinetops, where it was in the 50s! I love Mar - orange blossoms blooming and very nice weather.

Just discovered my A/C saying "check system." Could be a fuse on the roof heat pump. Fortunately, my guy is coming to check it first thing in the morning. Hope it's just the fuse and I don't need a new heat pump. It checked out fine in April, but is nine years old.

I agree with most of the above but....

We spend the majority of the day out in the sun
We have to watch out for scorpions, snakes and spiders.

All in all I don't mind the heat but this will probability be my last trip before I retire.

Feels like monsoon season here. Forecast is for 6" today and lots more on Sat and Sun. So far I've gotten almost 2"

If we get a little street flooding, I'll bet I see some walking catfish.

Had one that lived in my pond for years. Named it Kitty. Finally we turned her loose when she got too big.
