Patty, sorry to hear of your latest problems. I was at Christmas party Saturday and a friend was telling me about his sister. Seems she has been troubled with arthritis - he used some fancy name that I don't recall - and has been treated by experts for a number of years. Recently she gave up food containing 'wheat' at a doctor's recommendation and it has totally changed her life. Thought I would share that; might be something worth researching.

Patty, glad to get an update. Sorry you're having probs. I've been under the doctor's care for high triglycerides. Despite a diet of almost NO red meat, reallllllly low fats, etc. for the past 7 years, my triglycerides are rising. The overall cholesterol numbers aren't bad, but the triglycerides are high. The doctor prescribed zetia to get it down and the stuff is killing me. Aches and pains in all my joints, pain in my lower back, pain in my forearms, etc. and I feel like I've been run over by a truck. I'm just about ready to toss zetia out the window. I've been thinking about whether I'd want to live into my 90s in pain or just throw my caution to the wind and die painfree.

It's a drag when the cure is worse than the disease.

Val, have you ever tried the fish oil capsules? Rick took it to try to lower his cholesterol, which didn't work, but low and behold it lowered his triglycerides quite nicely.

Just a suggestion.

I've been taking them for years. The zetia has got to go.

PS Glad it works for Rick.
Bummer on the aches from the Zetia, Val. Rick takes cholesterol meds in addition to the fish oil. He's on his FOURTH one. First two affected the liver, next one made him achy. He's been on a low dose of Zocor, for just about a year. So far so good, but with NO history of heart disease in his family, and a good C reactive protein test, I wonder if he really, really needs to take the statins. I fear statins are really the next HRT in disguise. Docs put everyone on the darn things then years down the road, some research will decide OOPS, not such a good idea.

Patty, glad you know what's going on with the RA, bummer that is flaring in other spots. I guess that's common, but sure is a lousy thing to deal with.

Hope you feel better this morning.

Did you start on something else, then?

Thank you for the good thoughts, friends. My knee seems better today. It usually hurts when I sit at the computer but not when I stand. My wrist is pretty puffy today. I'm going back to the chiro this week so I may ask him to do the laser on my wrist, like he did the knee. It seems to have helped.

I've always found ot a lot easier to keep triglycerides in check.
I agree with the exercise part working.

you need a stationary trainer. It's boring but not so bad with a TV.
