I don't think that its gone downhill. I know that there are some members on this forum that have an attitude or just don't know WTH they are talking about, but for the most part there are a lot of individuals on this forum that still contribute to it and help to make it the place that it is. I know that I have far less expertise on then some other members, but whenever I can give advice that I have gained out of my own experience (not what I have read and babbled back in another post ), then I try to take the time to help someone out if I can. I think if more people did the same then it would be even better, but this is still one of the best car forums that I have ever been on.

let's just try to watch what we say to each other. if someone asks a bad question, ignore it, dont attack. be constructive instead of tearing someone down. just remember what it says about you if you feel the need to attack people on the internet.

People come and go, that's a fact of life. Many of the "old-timers" don't even own an S2000 anymore and some haven't for years. S2KI is about the owners and when they change so too does the site. Are there bad apples? Sure and the admins know that but filtering them out without impacting the good apples is hard to do and rarely clear-cut.

We make changes to how we moderate the site to address these things but it is always a reactive effort. The core principles of respect and tolerance are still there and they guide us in how the site is managed but we are always reacting to new situations as they come up. There will always be a problem on the site somewhere, not yesterday's problem but today's and we deal with it as it comes. That's just the reality of it.

Just because the honeymoon ends for members after a time doesn't make the marriage bad. The site may seem to be going "down-hill" to some but I suspect that you'll be able to relate that feeling to the member's own enthusiasm for the car. Older members think the site is not as good as it used to be just like they think the S2000/it's ownership is not as good as it used to be. New members think the site is awesome just like they think their new S2000 is awesome. New members become old members eventually but like I said at the beginning, people come and go.

We aren't trying to capture a "moment in time" in the history of the S2000 or it's ownership. We strive to be a vital and important way for S2000 owners and enthusiast to meet other owners and to learn important and current information about their cars. The same as we have always done.

I've been banning people for 6 years now and I'm banning people today for the same reasons I did 6 years ago and in proportions no greater than in the past. I share the history but not the nostalgia of the past because my S2KI is today's S2KI and not one from yester-year. It would be very easy for me to say the site was better before "insert member name here" showed up but I would be wrong. It's just different as it is influenced by different people along the way.

I'm a capitalist by nature and have no shame in earning a few dollars for providing a quality product at a quality price. I still only make 1/10th what the head of the American Red Cross makes each year and I doubt he works any more hours in the day than I do. Come to think of it I probably earn less than anyone who draws a salary from a non-profit organization as they just don't pay wages that low

Not that it's germane to the topic.

I've no problem with it either. I think perhaps you missed the lead-in that if you like the product, buy a membership. If not, quit your bitchin'.

Always trying to help.
