Look, I have no problems with this site. And I have no problems with being a (paid) member or not being a member. The problem I was talking about is helping new comers to the S2000 community. Whereas in the past, we (as old-timers of this community, be they members or guests) can point the new comer to the information, in the future the best we can do for them is to say "pay to play". And that I think is a sad thing for the S2000 community.

I do confess to wondering why exactly a 1500 foot square office is needed for an online bulletin board. Servers are housed elsewhere aren't they?

Erik is required by law to have a leased office premesis, Muz. you should have made the s2ki World HQ meet, then you'd have seen it. It's a simple but functional place I didn't measure it myself, but I'm not sure it is as big as 1500 sq ft?!

....and an example of the Community spirit of helping occurred @ FC04. On Saturday night B4 the track day, my CHECK ENGINE light comes on

Dave from LI told Billman250 about my problem and he CAME TO FIND ME in the banquet room to see if he could help out. With his laptop, he 'read out' my problem and told me it was a non-critical O2 sensor that needed to be replaced in the near future. This made the difference on a Saturday night between me having a great day at Beaver Run....VS driving home at 50 mph with fear of engine implosion or whatever.

The limitation of ad banners does present an interesting dilemma. What is the happy medium between blocking and continued sponsorship?

One good aspect..... the overwhelming majority of members who would benefit from the ad blocking also already are very familiar with the s2ki sponsors. The problem would be gaining info on new sponsors.

What about returning the sponsor page with links?
There is no membership option to remove the top banners. Gold Members have the option of turning off the Google banner. Seriously, all, ok most, of the banners that appear are relevent. The Google ads can at times be annoying in this regard putting up ads for trademark lawyers or charities. The sponsor banners are relevent and removing them would actually provide a disservice to the members. We all buy things, we do it every day. Without the banners and the Advertiser Directory at the top of the page I wouldn't know where to go. The parts and services market is a big part of events in the community. These banners are also used for communicating important news disguised as an ad. They are a central tool in conveying information to the community and aren't going anywhere. If you don't want to look at them then you are on your own as to figuring out how to remove them. They are an essential and central component of s2ki.com.

So we will stand behind the site 100% with what it has givin us. 5.5 cents a day is nothing, even at minimum wage
Well said Bill

:sidebar: off-topic I often wonder how many members of our local community are actual paid members! The missing Ver 3 feature that would list the badged members as a roster of the individual communities was a helpful feature to CO's in communication. Any shot of this returning?

Any time frame on the Platinum/lifetime Memberships? Now that I am spending time here again and my cash flow isn't a continuous red I was going to pay up again but want to see the details on these membership plans first.

And I don't care about the membership pack

Thanks,
Mark

And regarding the question "is 20USD or 50USD worth to spend"? Its not spending, its an investment.
