Interesting read, this thread.

My windshield spontaneously shattered (not into pieces, but it looked like someone bulleted a basketball at my windshield @ ~40mph, it was pretty insane) while driving one day and almost made me wreck!

Anyway, insurance covered it and Safelite was out to do the replacement quickly. I didn't know you could ask for/acquire non-oem glass windshields, but mine was genuine Honda and the install was quick and painless. Only thing that held the tech up was the button for the mirror placement didn't want to let my mirror tighten down at first, took 10mins of putzing with it.

good luck with the new glass (again)

You are fortunate they put OEM in - who is your insurance company?

I have SafeCo insurance - and both they and Safelite said OEM would cost almost double (for the insurance Company) and I would have to pay the extra out of pocket =(. So, OEM wasn't an option for me.

They had trouble with my mirror too. It still has a little springy movement to it if you pull on it and doesn't have a firm feel. It was like that after the last install too - never fell off and works fine - just feels weird if you adjust it.

statefarm was the insurance company. they did a good job on the windshield for me but d_cked me around about replacing my top that was slashed. wanted to put a used top on the car. at best that would be a top that is 5-6 years old.they wouldn't spring for a new one.I was able to get top at my cost from honda so i spent a few extra dollars out of pocket, but was worth it, top looks great.
