Default Another decat question

Hi everyone
I'm a fairly new owner and was thinking of a decat, at the moment I just have a k&n drop in filter and a cat back exhaust.
Is a decat safe? I don't want to do any damage and don't want to lose power but there's so maybe posts and mixed reviews about this and it just gets confusing.
Any help is appreciated, thanks, Baz

I've been looking into this as i've just got a decat for mine.

From the info i've seen, the general opinion is that you'll be ok with a drop in element and cat back system as your afr won't be dramatically altered. If you were to add a manifold and a full intake you'll need to look at doing something with your management to compensate for the change in afr.

You won't loose power because you'll be freeing up the breathing, you'll obviously change the sound of the exhaust too.

I'll be fitting mine either this evening or over the weekend so i'll report back with my butt dyno findings soon

Hi mate thanks for the reply, it would be great to hear your results.
I have been doing a lot of googling and looking on the forum and like I said the reviews are so mixed.

What mods do you have?

Thanks again

you will be fine on a relatively stock car.

just ensure you get a decat pipe with a CEL spacer like the ones from BERK as having a CEL come on is annoying.

FFS

decat will be fine. it will fail MOT. to avoid CEL get a o2 sensor gapper.

If you are concerned RE Air fuel ratio then get it to a garage who can road test the car and see the figures.
