What IP address should I be putting into the first screen? I'm using the one found when I click on the 'i' next to the wifi link for the box.
The idiot guide on the cd is no use at all.
Look on the app it appears that you need to:

1. Plug the OBD-II reader in the port (make sure you have the ignition active I think but no need for the engine on necessarily). - IIRC it should flash like an Xmas tree for a bit.
2. Go to your iPad wifi setting and locate the ODB-II device. Click the little blue arrow to the right of the signal strength indicator
3. Under IP address click the 'Static' tab
4. The IP address assigned to the ODB-II reader will be visibile (eg. 192.168.0.something...)
5. Go back to the EngineLink app and input the IP address you just noted. I think you can leave the port as 35000. It may take a few seconds but you should be good to go.
6. If it still fails to connect, try resetting your network settings (IDevice: Settings > General > Reset (this will impact other things you connect to also such as your home wifi I expect))

EDIT: It looks like you have followed these instructions. Perhaps try the reset.

In this video, he needs to go a few pages to the left and press the connect button to get the red to green indicator ( at 1 minute 20 seconds)

Good call. I assumed he was clicking Connect but should have stated explicitly. That video is a good find Ben.

Seems I've got this little bugger working and with EngineLink.

Here are the settings for the reader I bought above connected to my iPad and for a 2008 car

Plug in the OBDII reader under the passenger side dash nearest the tunnel.
Switch on the ignition.
A light will be seen on the OBDII unit

On the iPad open Settings and WiFi
Search for WiFi_OBDII and connect to it. Then go into its settings by click on the I in a circle next to it.
You will have been given an IP address by the OBD unit which you need to make static.
Make a note of the numbers in IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router and DNS - mine are below for reference

Click halfway down the page on the box labelled Static and fill in the fields below
IP Address: 192.168.0.19
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router and DNS both 192.168.0.10

Now fire up the app EngineLink
The only field I had to fill in was Adapter IP Address which was the same as Router and DNS : 192.168.0.10

Ensure WiFi and Metric boxes are checked at the bottom (blue boxes) and click Connect.
It should connect very quickly.
Swipe right and you should see it working.

While I was typing all that it seems you were trying to help me. Thanks BenRNBP and CynicG for your help.
My error code by the way was P0135 - the O2 sensor. I after all the reading I've done recently I think I might have guessed it was going to be this.

O2 sensor ordered from Honda for a whopping £241.90p

Lets hope it fixes the problem or I'm in trouble with Mrs B. ;-)
