I've done a bit of searching but couldn't find any useful info.

Looking for new brake pads for road and occasional trackdays. Thinking probably yellow stuff. Anybody have experience of these or any other recommendations?

I’ve always found yellow stuff rubbish ...ive got ds2500 and are great for road and odd track . Or I think project mu from Si @hendy do some good ones for your requirements

I’ve used red stuff, never yellow.

they are a bit stiff when cold but held up well on track for me. I found my rears suffered on the S iirc.

i havent done any for a few years but next year hoping to so interested in peoples experiences

I can't give and apples for apples comparison, but I went from Ferodo DS2500 (standard callipers) to EBC Blue Stuff (Accord callipers - significantly bigger pad) and was impressed with the performance. Of course much of that was probably due to the increased stopping power of a twin pot and bigger pad, but ignoring that, the pads soaked up a day at castle combe with out any fade, and I was working them fairly hard.

edit - I have also taken some steps to provide cooling, so this will have helped preventing them over heating also.

So like I say, not really apples for apples at all. Arguably an entirely useless response. Apologies

I know the guy who was the thread starter on your 3rd link. Happy to say he actually settled in for the Ferodo DS2500, and after 2 track days, it held up to expectations and still going strong. Very good all round pads, not much brake dust either.

Just gonna add my $0.02 to this about Yellowstuffs. I had them on my old S15 Silvia a while back, and found them great as an all round road and track pad. They took abuse on the 'Ring well too. I had a set fitted to my S2000 a while back, never had any real issues with cold bite. They definitely perform a bit better when warmer but when cold they are no worse than a stock pad. I did have issues with temps on my s2000 though, pretty much melted all 4 at the end of a trackday at Rockingham. They were towards the end of their life though and I do hammer my brakes on a TD. Didn't have any additional cooling mind. They were fine when I was sensible.

Basically what I'm saying is that for your requirements I think Yellow's would do you quite well, especially for the price. A few of my friends have had issues with squeaking and dust production with the DS2500's, I've never used them myself though.

I think we're all assuming the phrase "occasional track days" means that when you are on the track, you'll be driving moderately and will not be especially hard on the brakes. I've known a few guys who only do 2 or 3 track days a year, but when they are on the track, they drive their hearts out at 100%. Hence they push the brakes to the limit because often they are not smooth (lack of experience) and they don't have ducting either. If you think you might fall into that latter category, then I don't think any of these pads are going to fare very well for you. See Andy-F's comments about melting pads at Rockingham.
