Default Car is off the road for the winter

It's been parked up for a week and I'm thinking about disconnecting the battery, rather than turning the engine over every couple of weeks.
If I disconnect the battery, say for four or five months will it screw up the imobiliser in anyway?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the links and I've just ordered myself a £14 12v solar trickle charger. That should do the trick.

My car was off the road for 6 months over last winter at my parents. No power in the garage though so I kept the battery at home on a trickle charger & occasionally re-installed & turned the engine over. Never had a problem with either the immobiliser/alarm, or stereo.

I've now fully installed power & lighting so this year the battery will be left on the car with a trickle charger and I will continue to turn over the engine now and again.

I took mine for a little spin yesterday afternoon. Car has been standing for eight weeks now and it sparked into life on first push. Just drove it up and down the drive a few times to get it up to temp then let it idle while I changed the gear knob for my nice new Blox 490.

Nice opportunity to make sure the brakes aren't seizing etc as well.
