I would go for a different route.

For example you could wire up the door handle to the mains. Or, put some razor blades under there.

Just dont forget when you go to use the car

Also, they may well now know where you work etc.

Stupid question but you don't live in/near Reading?

I ask because there is a local gang breaking into 30-40 houses an night and stealing car keys. They then help themselves to your car later that night, once you've gone back to bed. The local police are far to busy nicking speeding motorists to be ar$ed to do anything about it. Which is just typical, of Thames Valley Police.

A friend of my Dad's had his keys to his Lexus stolen the other evening, and Lexus charged him 2k to replace all the locks on his car. They had to wake up their neighbours in the middle of the night to get them to block his cars in, in case they came back for his cars later on.
Wow!! Where abouts in Reading?

I alarm up when I go to sleep now.
We've always done this ever since living in Bristol - now we're in Chepstow which is so safe you can leave windows open in the summer when you go out, but we still put the alarm on when we go to bed

Why dont you just take the battery out?

You've got a key to open the bonnet right? If some one does try to come back for it I think they may have a few problewms trying to start the car! Plus it stops the alram going off when the AA come along.

Aye, unfortunately there was a guy in Reading who was knifed on his drive trying to stop somebody driving off with his Lexus.

Around the Woodley area from what I've heard. Still not heard anything on the local news, so it can't be as bad as the policeman said it was. 40 houses a night is a heck of a lot, and would easily arouse the local media is not the useless Thames Valley Police.
