I was lucky enough to get mine when it was around $2 to £1, so it was much cheaper than it is now!
It is really very good though (you don't need to spend a huge amount on the sub itself - mine was £80 IIRC.
But then you also need amplification, so it can get very expensive!

IIRC I had my Alpine MRV-F450 (quite large 5 channel) mounted behind the passenger seat mounted on it's side, sub was a dark side enclosure as above in the boot. I had a 6 or 10 disk MP3 CD changer mounted under the passenger seat.

I have this under my passenger seat and it fits perfectly fine. Doesn't hinder movement of the seat etc. http://www.audiosavings.com/products...S20/BUS20.aspx
It sounds great! Doesn't hit quite hit as low as a sub in an enclosure but it's about 95% as good imo, it is deffo adequate to fill the cabin! The passengers love it vibrating the seat... especially the ladies!
It's no longer available new, so used is the only option is used unless you buy a copycat which probably won't be as good. I don't know if the replacement the Focal iBUS 20 fits though.

I've just put a Focal IBus 20 under the drivers seat (LHD).
There's a bulge under the seat that goes from about half way, all the way to the back of the seat, so the sub has to go at the front and sticks out from under the seat. In order to get the maximum seat movement, I put the sub right up against the hump in the floor. I'm 5'8" and like to sit close to the wheel with bent arms and there's still room to move the seat two clicks further forward than I need it.

Unless you're very short in the legs, the loss of a few clicks of seat travel won't be a problem.

I'm no car audio expert, but it sounds good to me, and using the High Pass Filter setting to relieve the door speakers of bass duty allows me to crank the whole thing up loud enough to have nice, clear, fully-rounded tunage with the roof down at 140kph and well beyond. The new seat massage feature is pretty welcome too...
