Leak in Boot

The above was done under the car, you'll see that it's impossible from anywhere else if you get under yours. A lift is pretty much a necessity.
It's really fiddly, so allow 1/2 hour, and the use of silicone is a MUST. Again, you'll see why When you get underneath as there's a bend right at the bottom of the tube and the drain valve, whilst pliable, is very difficult to get on.

Excellent, clear and concise write up.
Only owned my car a few weeks now and decided to get the wheels refurbed which called for me to take the jack kit out of the boot and you can guess what I found - a nice puddle.
Not sure my DIY skills are at this level so may need to try and find someone who can do it for me, any recommendations in the Midlands area ?
Apart from the wheel refurb, the need for a Cam chain tensioner,2 brand new rear tyres the car is just what I expected and great fun providing a real contrast to my daily driver which is an S3, just a shame that when I bought the car I told the Mrs it was bullet proof and wouldn't cost us any money

Thought I'd reply to this, rather than make yet another thread, as it's been the most useful in looking at the problem I have.
I noticed three weeks ago when taking the tool kit out of the bottom of the boot to pack to go on holiday that I had a leaky boot. I dried it out as I didn't have time to investigate it then. Now, three weeks later, I've had a better look.
Today I had about half an inch of water in the bottom so I've taken all the boot lining out to see if I can work out where it's coming from.
The wettest part of the lining is that that's closest to the rear of the car and there was some damp around the boot vent, but not a lot. Is that normally the case that the vent would only be leaking small amounts for it to build up in the space of three weeks? I've drawn on this picture to show how I think it might be coming in...
I also noted that around the spare wheel and the area circled here there is so sign of any water or water marks, in which case can I completely rule out the roof (my initial fear as there is a tear low down on the corner)?
Finally, has the sound deadening here saved me from a rotten boot or is it worth ripping it out to check? It all looks ok from underneath.

They are part of the much bigger rubber/plastic strip thing that runs along the bottom edge of the hood.
