newbie - hardtop demister
Hi,
Just bought a S2000 GT (52 plate with rear glass in the soft top).
Can anyone advise me how the rear demister works?
Looks like it works fine on the soft top, both when folded down and up.
However does not appear to work when the hardtop is on, and the cable connected.
Should the soft top demister work when it is folded down?
When the hardtop is fitted, should it only be on in the hardtop, and if so how does it know.
Cheers

I had this recently.
Check that, with the hardtop on - the soft top motor shouldn't work. If it does, take the hardtop off and look near the mounting point on the passenger side. There's a small plastic switch/button which when pressed in will disable the soft top and allow the hard top demister to work.

Cool, hopefully that's all it is then. When you take the hardtop off, on the bracket is a small rubber bit that's supposed to push the button in, but it was on the wrong side on mine. If its missing on yours, you could either rig something to push the button in or just tape the button down.

Yes, that's it, found the button, beside the hole for the locating pin of the hardtop. On the driver side there is a rubber stopper on the hardtop, but it is missing on the passenger side, and hence the button is not being pressed when the hardtop is on.
Should there be a rubber stopper on both sides? It may reduce the squeaking/creaking while driving.
Now to find the part number!
Thanks again.

Excellent! I was wondering where that rubber grommet thingy which is in my box of 'spare' bits came from.
Will check it out tomorrow as it's definitely time for the hard top to go on.
Just as an aside..... 3 1/2 Grand for a hard top!!!!
Makes a GT even better value over a roadster.
