So how come MIRA managed to get 0-60 in 5.5s and Evo said they were disappointed to only get 5.8s cause the car they tested had a slipping clutch.

They neglect to mention that in that world, which involves scameras, congestion and poor roads, a 70's Cortina is as quick as their TDi - in other words, all mechanical and driving advantages are cancelled out. It's why beaters aren't a pain to drive
The fun starts on empty roads or tracks - where TDi owners (and Cortina owners) discover how fast their cars really are in comparison to others......

In the real world, a push bike is as fast as my car on a daily commute.
CTR vs S2000, who cares. The S is a smidge quicker, and the gap gets bigger on the track. The CTR is a hatchback with 4 seats, the S a roadster with 2. Designed for different markets.

I'm pretty sure the 6.2s is the quoted time for 0-100kmph
Toyota have been know for this on a lot of their newer cars. When tested they are quite a bit quicker than the published speed.
It seems it's not a thing to be proud of now days, in the 'pub talk' we should be talking about in gear times and MPG.
Whilst Bada-Hunting seems to be a popular sport here (
) I have to agree on the cornering thing. My last car was a VX220 Turbo and its cornering ability was vastly superior to that of the S2000. You just didn't need to slow down for the same corners. At all. Before getting the S I took a few test drives in an Exige S and a 111R too. They just cornered even better than the VX. There really is no point comparing them to the S. The sense of confidence and feel is way above that you get in the S. For me though the S meets my needs better and makes for a better GT style car so that's what I'm driving at the moment...
Back on topic... Having "obliterated" S2000s, CTRs and Elises on real roads I would have to say the VXT left the Hondas about the same distance behind. This was due to not slowing for the corners that followed on from the straight bit. A turbo only counts for so much on the straights
0-60 time is quoted at 4.7s for a standard VXT with mine apparently capable of 4.2s thanks to a couple of mods
