Default ticking from the engine

heard a funny ticking sound coming from my engine the other day and thought it was the new exhaust i got on last week
so took it over to the fella i get to do my work, as usual when i got over there the sound went away
so he got it up on the lift to have a look and he thought it was the thing inside the exhaust (sorry dont know what its called). but then it came back as he just just about to take it down. so he poped the bonnet to have a quick nosey, and he says its coming from under the rocker cover. he has an idea that it might be the v-tec and said the v-tec in the crx's have the same ticking noise and said that "they just tick" and its probably nothing to worry about so, just to put my mind at rest ive booked in for next week to make sure its ok

anyone else have the same problem or even heard of something like it???

The car can be ticketty. Have your valve clearances checked at next service.

Depends on the 'ticking' noise I guess? I had an Accord Type R with the same engine and the camshaft timing belt tensioner started making noises. As it's in the same area of the engine it could be that.

Don't panic though, the part's only

Does it tick as soon as you start the car or when it warms up?
