Default help! keyless entry doesnt work.

Hi. My name is Kay. I bought my car last winter and never received the key fob that is programmed to my car. So then I found a honda key fob and tried reprogramming procedures that was given on this forum.

But I have no idea why the keyless programming is not working. The procedure says that when I repeat for the 4th time ( putting ignition to on then pressing "lock" within 1 second), the door lock is supposed to make a "clunk" sound which tells that the keyless entry is in program mode. However, no matter how many times I try, I cannot get it to work.

My doors, trunk, hood, and everything I can think of on my car that opens were closed. My keyfob had battery.

I was also wondering, after realizing that I have the Honda factory alarm system, if the the cars that are equipped with the alarm system has a different way of programming the keyless entry.

I actually gave up on programming it myself and decided that I should take it to the dealers soon. I was just lazy and never went for almost a year now. And I thought maybe someone here had similar problem and can enlighten me with some advices and insights.

I've had the car for about a year now and also have carried the non-working keyfob for the past year. Please help me fix my keyless entry!!

I think you got your instructions mixed up.

You are supposed to press the lock button within 5 seconds for 1 second. Press and hold, not just press and release.

Silly question....but are you SURE the battery in the keyfob is not dead? given that your car is a 2002, the battery in the keyfob could be dead. This could be a very simple fix. Might want to go and spent the $2-3 on a new battery.
