Default RE-11 observation

I replaced the RE-01R tires a couple of months ago on my AP2 with RE-11's. They are nice tires and perform well, but I've noticed that they are more sensitive to road irregularities than the 01R's. There is quite a bit of vibration created, especially from washboard road surfaces. Smooth surfaces are just fine though. I suspect that they flat spot easier than the 01-R's if the car has sat for a few days. I don't think that this is a wheel balance issue, but I'll have them rebalanced just in case. Has anyone else noticed these issues with their RE-11"s?

Any flat spotting would go away within a few miles when they heated up.

That they do Jim. Is the belt construction different between the 01R and 11? Thanks for your thoughts about this issue.

I have no flat spotting issues with the RE-11s, even after sitting for over 2 weeks. I've also had no balance issues; the techs have used minimal weights (~1-2 of the little flat square weights that they stick on the inside of the rim) to get the wheels and tires in balance (Volk RE30 wheels).

One thing I just thought of, you might have some worn out bushings or tierods.

I had the wheels balanced again today...much better! Flat spotting isn't that bad, at least not as bad as the OEM 050's. All is well now!
