Think about it this way. You are basically taking the front AP2 tire and putting it on the rear rim. It is defiantly on the narrow side for the width of the wheel.

Just about to buy some Rays ce28nf in 17x7.5 et43 - car is lowered by approx. 1" and after reading this thread I'll be looking to run 205 on the front and 235 on the rear - what height would be best for those though?

Greatings S2KI,
Sometimes reader first time poster. I have a AP1 with oem wheels and am desperately in need of some new rear tires.I am looking at my options of replacement and possibly an upgrade.

I have BFGoodrich® g-Force™ Super Sport A/S 225/50R16 on the rear. 215's on the front no longer match because I have a used set.Looking at your sticky threads here I see that a 245 would actually be closer to the stock tire that should be on there regardless of what a spec sheet says?

Is there a noticable handling upgrade I can make on the oem rims? And, would it be noticably larger to switch to 17 inch rims and wider? If so I am going to have to ask fitment questions as I can't find AP2 rims on Craiglist here and shopping online for staggered sizes isn't going well. From the first post in this thread it looks like 215/45R17 and 255/40R17 would fit on 8" wide but would that be uncomfortably pinched/stretched?

The car is a daily driver, has not been on a track.

You seem like a helpful bunch here. If too many questions feel free to ignore though.

Cheers, Merry Christmas

That info is outdated. Just order the oem tire sizes. 245 on the 16 has very very few options. Buying the oem ap2 17's will be a noticeable upgrade on handling and number of tire choices so I would go that route. 255 is to wide for an 8 inch wide wheel.

Hi. I'm sorry. I'm back with a question. I haven't purchased tires yet, because I'm still sort of nervous about tire sizes.

The wheels are:

17x9 +45 Front
17x9 +40 Rear

I was thinking to do a 235/40/17 all around. The arches are rolled and the fronts pulled (the previous owner caught the tire on the fender lip and it flared the fender a little bit)

My car is pretty low:

Just looking for some tire size advice.

Thanks!

After much deliberation I've decided to do 235/40 245/40 - from what I understand, the 235/40 is a little shorter than a 225/45 on the same wheel.

Thanks for everyone's help!

235/40/17 S.Drive all around
BC Coilovers - unsure how much lower than stock it is.

Looks a lot lower than stock. You should be able to fit a 245 or 255 in the rear on those with a little more camber.
