Hey I was thinking since I am repaving my driveway DIY style, I wanted to use my S for triple track/street and driveway duty. Do you know if anyone has/can fit 275/315's for max steam rolling effectiveness without going over fenders? If so tell me how? I don't like the way off the shelf over fenders look. Thanks!

Hello all,

im buying Volk ce28 rims for my ap1 s2000. As i found out, the 17 x 7.5 et50 are perfect for the front. As far as the rear goes, i dont want to have too much wide tyres. Im thinking 215 front and 235 rear. Will volk ce28 in 17 x 8.0 et 44 be ok for the rear? The car will be on kw v3.

thanks in advance

You would be MUCH better off with the standard 9" +63 rear. Run a 245/40 rear tire if you don't want something really wide, would be a nice match for 215/45 front. 235 is an oddball size, diameter will be off one way or the other.

17x9 +63 is the right size to use in the rear with a 245/40/17 tire.

The reason i asked is becouse my friend have 225 and 245 setup on his s2000 and compared to my ap1 on stock wheels, his car feels slow. My car will be for weekend spirited drives, will not go to the track, so i thought that i dont need that wide tyres. As stock is 205 and 225, i was thinking to add +10 in front and +10 in the back. What kind of problems can i have with diameter on 235 tyres? Will there be noticable difference in straight line performance between lets say 235 and 245?

thanks

235 is either slightly taller or shorter than the OEM diameter. This can cause a difference in gearing, speedo reading etc. Not a massive one but still a difference. There also isn't as many tire choices in that size. What wheels and tires does your friend have? What is is his S2000? A big reason ap2's came with 17's and a 215 and 245 tire setup was to try and help reduce the oversteer the AP1 had and lack of grip.

OK, I've read through a lot not all but A LOT of these pages so here I go. I have an AP1 with stock wheels now I'm looking to get as close to stock as possible WITH the exception of getting 17" wheels vs the AP1 stock 16" wheels. I'm sure other's have done this before and have posted about it (I've tried looking) aside from the obvious what should be some concerns and what would be the "best" possible recommendation?

I'm thinking

ENKEI PERFORMANCE
EDR9
  • Front: 17x7
  • Rear: 17x8
BRIDGESTONE POTENZA S-04 POLE POSITION
  • Front: 205/50R17
  • Rear: 225/45R17
Thanks for all the help guys....

The best recommendation is to move to AP2 OEM size wheels and tires. Buying a set of used AP2 oem wheels in whichever version you like best would be a better option than these. The wider rear tire on the AP2 wheels helps with reducing the oversteer AP1's have. 205 is really really narrow for the front and with the reduced sidewall height on 17's may not even be safe. A better tire combo for those wheels would be a 215/45/17 for the front and a 245/40/17 rear even though the rear will be pretty pinched on the 8 inch wheel. Again AP2 OEM wheels (or wheels that match they spec as closely as possible) would be better.
