This is why I wrote the guide. You don't really need to use the calculator and make some guesses. Also, the calculator is only telling you were the wheel will be... and it's the tire that rubs, not the wheel, right?

Look at the first post. All your answers are there. With your offsets, you should be able to use a 225 in front and a 275 in the rear. The width of the wheel is secondary because it doesn't change where the tire is (only slightly).
hey dude I will be the first to admit I am not a math wizard or wheel wizard or car wizard in any respect ... from what I read and calculated I am pretty certain I am fine, was looking more for that pat on the back assurance ...

thanks for the assurance

Hey Guys, I have a question.
I'm in the process of buying some used rims, and I need your help.
The size of the rims he's selling is 17 X 7" with 42"" offset all around. He also has 225x45x17 tires on all of them. Would this fit okay on my 04 S2K? I realize this is not staggered, so I'm aware that the handling might be slightly compromised, but I like the idea of being able to rotate my tires. I am very confused about the offset business. Please help........ Thanks

Yes, compromised in an unsafe way. Please don't do it. The offset is too low and the rears will be too narrow, and the front may rub. There are limited choices on wheels for this car, but it's worth getting the right stuff.

Hi,

I am in the process of changing my wheels..

Curent AP2 on Front - 215/45R17, stock rim in 7J. Rear - 245/40R17, stock rim in 8.5J

Getting Volks Racing GTS Front 8.5J Rear 10.5J. Rubbers will be 235/30R19 Front and 265/30R19 Rear.

I do not know what offset to go for, from page 1, it states:
7.5

Stock is 55f and 65r. This is listed in the first post as well, section 4.1.

According to the guide you would need at least +58 in the front and +55 in the rear. However, since you are stretching a (relatively) narrow tire into a very wide wheel in the rear, you might add a little offset so the rim doesn't stick out and look funny. +60 might be good.

Cheers,
Ken

Thanks Ken.

Here's some info about the wheel.

http://rayswheels.co.jp/cgi-bin/cgi2/engli...i?modelName=GTS

For front, 8.5J, the biggest offset avail is +46 mm. Rim depth will be 62 mm.
For rear, 10.5J, the biggest offset or closest to 60mm suggested is +53mm with rim depth of 81mm.

Here's an impression of the front:

Here's the rear..

So from the pic we can calculate how much is protruding out for the rear..

Stock form, the wheel protrude 108-65 = 43mm from the mounting plate.
For the 10.5J GTS wheel, protrusion increase to 133-53 = 80 mm! An increase of 3.7cm. Is that too much that requiring rolling of fender?

Here's another technical spec over stock form:

What it mean is the rear wheel to wheel width (measuring middle of wheels) is 1510mm.

Assuming the tires flush with the rim in stock form, there is 120mm from mid of the stock wheel to flush with body width (which i assume the fattest part is the rear fender).

120mm = (1750/2)-(1510/2)

120 - 108 = 12mm, that is the gap between end of stock wheel to edge of fender. Without taking consideration of say 8mm of metal sheet rolling into the fender, 37mm protrusion is definitely going to hit the fender..

Correct?

Great thread...got a question about fitment of course.

Currently I am running on some Espelir springs/MY04 rims/OEM tire sizes with a 3-4 finger fender gap. Would you guys recommend against getting 5zigen FN01-RC's in the following sizes (with OEM tire sizes)?

Front:
17x8.0 +48

Rear:
17x9.0 +50

Edit: after taking a look at 5zigen wheel sizes I'm not even sure they come in a 50 offset so I may have to go..

17x7.0 +48
17x8.0 +48
