Wheel Fitment Guide
Hi Guys,
I just bought a bone-stock Berlina Black 2003, and am very new to the S2000 scene. I have a set of 18x8 Ro_Ja wheels (+40mm offset) sitting in the garage with no tires, and was thinking about putting them on the S2000.
Is this a bad idea? Is it essential that the sizes are staggered? If not, what would be the recommended tire size for these wheels? (The list recommends a size for the rear, but not the front)
If there is any issue whatsoever with decreased reliablility/handling/performance/etc, I will sell these and look for something else (I may just put a set of AP2 wheels on).
Thanks,
-Danny B.
PS - The previous owner has mismatched and, from what I've read, missized tires on the stock wheels. The fronts are Bridgestone Potenza S-03s in 205/55/ZR16 and the rears are Sumitomo HTR+s in 225/50/ZR16. Are these sizes going to create a problem (or wear quickly)?

You really need to keep the stagger or the car will tend to oversteer when pushed.
A 40 offset is kind of too low for this car. You would need to run tires narrower than stock to avoid rubbing. Then up front you'd have a wide wheel with a narrow tire and in the rear you'd really want something wider than 8 inches.
I'd stick with the OEMs for now.

Wow great info on this thread, very helpful. I have narrowed down my wheel choice and already have tires, but I need an opinion about offset choice.
I have Falken Azenis 615's (I heard they run a bit wider than other tires) 225 front & 255 Rear. I'm most likely getting the Work VS-XX (O disk). I also have Eibach Prokit 1" Drop springs.
These are the wheels I have narrowed it down to.
Front:
17X7.5 +51 (37mm lip)
17X8.0 +57 (37mm lip)
Rear:
17X9.0 +57 (50mm lip)
Will those work with the 225/255 tires without rubbing with no modification?
Thanks in advance,
Ed

I would choose the higher offset for the front. Then you should be good to go.
Cheers,

Thanks spa-zz. Yeah I was thinking the same thing I'll take the advice and go with the 17X8 +57 in front, but now I'm debating the rear.
The vendor I'm getting the wheels from suggested I go with 17X9.5 +64 for the rear instead. It will give me +7mm more clearance for the top of the tire and yet the lip of the rim will sit in the same exact spot as the 9" +57 because it's wider.
What do you think about the rear wheel sizes, also what do you think about 255 on a 9.5" wheel?
Thanks again,
Ed
