Unusual first post I know, but Im afraid Im going to throw a cat or two amongst the pigeons here guys

My brother has just bought an S2K and is loving it already - however he wants to change the wheels on it. He asked me to help as Im a bit of an wheel whore (Ive got a 350Z running on Gram Lights, a Nissan Onevia convertible on Blitz type 03's, and a 200SX drift car with Work Equips and Meisters as wheels ) and Ive been looking into the fitments myself.

Ive got pictures of two cars on non-standard wheels for you:

The top one is 18x9.5J ET20 and the bottom is 17X9.5J ET38 - theres some camber on the top one but not a lot. According to your guide though, neither set of wheels should fit ............. but I know both cars and know these sizes are correct.

Id also add that your guide uses a range of widths (i.e. 7J-8J) and itself this is effectively an offset difference of 13mm, which is a fair amount when it comes to these things.

The question from all this I guess is whether there is any pictorial evidence on this board of anyone running what you have detailed as the absolute widest/lowest offset, as real life always wins

This thread is not for extreme fitments and that has been stated several times. The data presented here is for people that don't want to risk rubbing with stock setups. It was gathered from real-world examples on this very forum.
The wheel and tire setups in your pics DON'T fit according to the focus of this thread.

Different people have different definitions for fitment. IMO, I would not call the wheels in those pictures a "fit." The wheels and tires on those cars clearly stick out.

The range of widths does NOT present a range of offsets. The offset is measured from the wheel CENTERLINE, and this the tire location relative to the fender DOES NOT CHANGE when the wheel width is changed. Study wheel offset diagrams again and you will see this. Now, if your offsets are so low that you are in danger of your WHEEL rubbing on your fenders, then you've got bigger problems.

Thats cool - I live in the world of extreme fitments and to me that white one looks about right. In fairness to you my brother doesnt like the white one either

But Im not sure about your bold paragraph - width and offset dictate how much a wheel protrudes from an arch, not just one or the other. The outside edge of a 10J +35 will be in exactly the same place as an 8J +10 - just the inside edge will be 50mm further out.

By the same logic, an 8J +20 will protrude the same as a 7J +7 but have 26mm more clearance on the inside edge.

Try this one then - this is pretty much exactly what Im looking at for my brother:

(F) 17x8J +13,

Yes, wheel offset and width dictate where the wheel is. But changing only the wheel width doesn't move the tire because wheel offset is measured from wheel center. And what rubs, the wheel? No, the tire.

Again, this thread is not for people that pull fenders, roll fenders, add negative camber just to get wheels to fit, etc. I fully appreciate your efforts but that is not what the typical S2000 owner is looking for.

Fair play to you - its a magnificent thread, seriously, and something that Ill be suggesting for a few other webboards - I can see a lot of work and research has gone into just by looking at the rest of the section

We'll have to see what he thinks about a cheeky bit of tyre stretch and camber I think
