That's it, in a nutsert. Mind you, it's heresy to mention any failings of any B*W product, so you'll now be "disappeared".

At least the bonnet doesn't fly open at speed & smash the windscreen, unlike with the Clioris.

Why?
The Trophy was just a 182 Cup in red paint, with a V6 spoiler and Sachs suspension that needs rebuilding after 40,000 miles.
Ignoring the French car issues for a moment, as that affects both cars, the 255 was lairy and fun in its own way, but never a truly well executed performance car. A 'curiosity', a marketing dept. car to make people remember the old 5 Maxis, whereas the 182 Trophy was regarded by many people in the know as one of, if not the best handling FWD car ever.

In a nutshell, the 255 was for willy waving and the Trophy was for driving, although the world would be a better place if more manufacturers indulged themselves in pointless projects like ripping out the back seats of their cars and wedging an engine in its place .

Oh Nick, Nick, Nick. How wrong could you be? Anyone that was frequenting the Renaultsport Forum at the time that issue came up will remember that the issue was simply down to user error and not simply another product fault. Renault said so and I believe them!

I'm with him. Dynamically compromised. 1545kg and 250bhp vs 1012kg and 182bhp.. the 182 is the better car IMHO, but the v6 is dafter

IIRC, the official Renault ststement was that it was down to non-franchise garages not greasing the catch properly and drivers not closing the bonnet properly. To my mind, that didn't really explain why the safety catch failed as well.

Smacks of trying to avoid paying out to recall a few hundred-thousand cars for a fix to me. Lying b4stards

Seriously I love all Renaultsport motors - Even the Twingo. But you can only do this in a V6:

Well, exactly.

You get the same thing with the coil pack/DSG solenoid/rattling wastegate rods on vages; these are 'characteristics' appearently and still go on today!

The bonnet catch is poor design; 'ours' fail in the closed postion and have a weathershield over them anyway.

I seem to remember the EU Civic was recalled because the plastic column surround 'might' crack & the headlight relays 'might' fail & the Jizz because water in a window switch might cause a kid to choke itself to death.

Toyota changed thottle pedals becuase they honestly couldn't find anything better to do, other than to weep a bit.

It seems there's a real double-standard with some of these recalls/QC issues.

No, the 182 would be half a lap ahead though.

I would still have one for the daft factor but it doesnt alter the facts
