An e parked next to me last week before I got ill, looked smart in black but it appeared quite tall next to my lil S2. Bland side on ..
I suppose against some cars it does look daft. On its own it's cute. Overall it's not a bad design for a city car. It's grown on me, not enough to splurge though..
Kia meanwhile .. I mean, what the actual fck is this EV6 with 577 bhp?. Can anyone tell me what the point is of creating such huge powered cars like this?
Let's arm people with 600 horsepower scalextric wagons and pray there are no accidents.?. the world has officially gone insane. Tesla started this silliness with rocketship dual motors, it's going out if control. In 10 years, 1000bhp might even be the norm. Can the potholed roads cope... No .
We seem to be stuck in the "mines faster than yours" era.
At least some of you have the option of buying an e if you fancy one.
I wrote to Honda USA asking them to import them here. I'd be happy to order one should they become available. Perfect in-city commuter.
Wifey loves the concept.
There is an arms race. I think it's relatively easy to put a powerful motor in but the brakes take some hammer. 2.1t that Kia and that is a lighter one.
It's decent but noone needs that power in a family barge I agree. Maybe 250 cos it's so fat?
I have seen a lot of twats launching Tesla X's and that will end when physics gets hold of you. Other day heading to work on my Yam I must have driven through some oil or diesel in the rain, I gave it like 30% of throttle in 2nd and spun up. That's the roads this time of year.
But Tesla doesn't care.
Until he does.
One raced me off at the lights except I didn't notice (in the S). I'm positive it validated his £800 a month rental lol.
I'd be fine with a limit tbh. Fast and heavy is still bad physics
The e is proving too physically small so will make a decision in the new year
Need to drive the EV6, other options I am considering are Superb estate or similar or upgrading the biohazard
The Kia has suffered catastrophic depreciation like all EVs including this one so could be a good buy. It runs 800v so charges very quick and the owners forum seems low on issues
There are a couple of normal versions. Not appealing that one and not just because of the price. Fast EVs need really good throttle control or they make your passengers puke and my LSB is prone to such, even in the little e which has a very composed ride and very modest power
Anyways, to answer Dog's question
Had an osprey rapid at a boozer here fail:
Chesterfield Road, Hope Valley, S32 3XH
It had a chat with the car, lots of clicks and waiting but **** all action.
The fast (c7kwh) at the hotel had no such issues - I don't think they need to agree much, so we didn't have to charge today and arrived home with a chunk left but again I struggled in the chair after the hour mark.
There is a page here which demonstrates the dodginess of Honda's tech in regard to charging
The Kia probably would not have needed juice, the hotel was 45 miles up and down (not great for an EV) through some stunning scenery, then we went to Chatsworth and back (another 25 miles), then lady bower <5) and back, so a grand total of c110 miles I guess? Maybe a bit more with diversions, we follow Waze a lot and it diverts around traffic
it would have been harder work on tiny roads due to size
I've joined their Facebook, it's similar to the e one tbh, lots of minor grips, generally positive vibe, the car depreciates like ****...
I love the car, it's foibles do annoy, shit economy, range, boot, software takes several attempts to connect to my phone but the Kia doesn't even support wireless android auto apparently
The honda is brilliant to drive like no tank is to me, you can throw it about and really feel that low CoG
Might take a look at the weekend.. lots of options
At the moment the e looks to have cost £11k over 3 years in depreciation, or £305 a month. Middling I guess.

But 65k+ and potential for horrific depreciation does not attract me. If I did a lot of miles maybe
It would be a choice over the new defender or a rangie for me, 100%
Anyways, EV6 is, apparently, a hens teeth car but still catastrophic depreciation.
That is the one we are now looking for.
They start used at £30k which is the ex demo price of a Skoda ID4 (that is not it's name) but the tech is night and day better on the Korean.
Kia are also supporting V2L already (through charge port) and want to do V2H which is very appealing to me so it's time to find one to drive and get it over the line

That is a DC charger rated 50kWh. Possibly your 'e' that failed the connection session. What did the charger say?
AC charging at 7 kWh and less is what the 'e' DC charging failure leaves you with, so goodbye top up the 'e' in under the hour.
edit: so what is the price of that blue (Kia?) EV likely to be? and what will they allow for your 'e' trade in?
If £28k to you after 3 months as demo where do you end up in 3 more years?
My guess is about half way so £14k?
