I hear you, and why not indeed. Its the right car for you here and now, more interesting than a Jizz for sure. Let's hope the R & D holds up, seeing as though the Audio dept needs assistance.
As said in another thread my pop is 75 - last year, he said he was considering an Mx5. I asked him to remember the time he had to get out of my previous S2K, in 2012, as he's not been in my current one. He bought a Fiat 500 instead. :-)
If you're not a fettler, it will for sure get on your tits. I don't mind the niggles, I look forward to fixing it.
Having said that, I will likely assimilate when I get on a bit, and follow the familiar path of beige cars. I just hope it doesn't happen anytime soon. The day I look at a French SUV in a pleasing way, is the time I know my car loving days are over.

I think you're probably the exception rather than the E-Rule @arsie They're going to have a tougher time selling elsewhere i think.

At least it doesn't have Hungarian Samsung batteries in it.

External combustion engines are definitely not good for the immediate environment.

Haven't cleaned it yet since the dealer applied the ceramic coat on the basis that it reduces cleaning needs. Fettler? Moi?

That said the slip stream drops lots of grot on the back door whereas we watched a large fly sit unmolested in the middle of the bonnet on our way into town. Chunky front end deflects the air flow up and over obviously. BTW same colour as the one on Top Gear but without the 17" black wheels (identified by the faux chrome spokes) mine has the 16" stealth dealer (the other kind) in total black. Been toying with painting the calipers to match the body colour or in matt black.

@s2k4tony Yeah the only time I could get out of my S was if I was driving. Pass side with nothing to pull on was impossible Oh and beige was not an option ...

the reason i'm tempted, which i've probably uttered before, is it's inherently simple hardware with a bit of (maybe flakey if VW) software

I cant compare to a tesla as the cheapest ones (not used) are much more money and if it breaks in this country i would think you have troubles
A leaf is a soul less peice of shyte to me, i looked, even though i think Nissan are crap. it also reportedly rides like an Audi
The Mini is the same price and not well built in Oxfordshire
The Corsa is just horrific

i like small, comfy, easy to drive, not too harsh ride. ideal school run buggy. low tax, low running cost

i have 2 S2s, dont wany any more IC cars

Hyundai make probably the best EVs in terms of the cost/range/build balance.

Their BEVs are probably less prone to conflagration than their ICEs, TBF. Unless they also have Hungarian batteries...

@lovegroova agree but they just don't appeal. Sensible enough. But the Honda makes me smile. So parkable too (has to be to maximise range )

meh.. both the Ioniq and kona are fugly, they are also both more expensive than the Honda

as i said i think the prop of premium small car is pretty unique. go and sit in a Yaris or a leaf.. just stand and look at the hyundai (need a bcuket)
