The Octopus Energy 'Go' EV tariff is charging mine up at 5p/kWh as we speak. That rate as you know is 00:30 to 04:30 my rate otherwise is 15.96p.

I suspect my days are numbered but good luck flogging the 'e' if the shit really does hit the fan it will be worth less. Possibly worthless too

With PV and house batteries I am slightly less vulnerable though not much and defo I will be taking my booster in two weeks

Do it. Buy back later when prices have tumbled. Go short. Go long (whichever it is) investor stylee.

Trouble is all that co-investment (bike rack, charger) and life style mods

Passed a largish wind turbine farm today, not one turning! What do we have as a backup? Worried I wouldn’t get coffee when I got home.

A friend in Canada was telling me they pay 7p a kw
It's mostly green, a lot of hydro and tidal . Ours is 3-4 times more expensive and coal is making a comeback as predicted
mismanagement at every level, from our twat government to inept big corp energy gen co's refusing to invest

Canada are also into mini nuclear fission power stations and so should we be (but not with China). Bit of a lead time though from concept to commission.

We shouldn't be afraid to resort to coal power in emergency when the sun don't shine and the wind no blow.

Bugger the green lot when they are happy to let China/India/etc build new coal.

They are something like 60% hydro and tidal
the water wheel lives on..

But yeah, we ultimately have very peaky demand and I don't think storage is very cheap. V2G is the obvious answer, the challenge being the population are thick, selfish ****ers on the whole (present company excepted )
