There are several reasons why I keep telling them to FRO with their smart-meters and that's one of them.
Hitachi has pulled out of the nuclear reactor project it was due to build so California-style grid instability problems due to the watermelons insisting on unreliables are inevitable.
We might have to end up using greentards instead of wood pellets at Drax, when the blinkers finally come off...
Sorry no pics my space is full and I am not in any clouds. One day maybe. Can any mod/admin tell me what the limits are in terms of no pics/albums?
Anyhow this is like mine in colour (charge yellow) and wheels. 16". No fake spokes in chrome just all black, which I prefer in looks and ride.
I also paid for black rubbing strips on the doors, fitted about level with the top of the tyres. A dealer job so probably can be retro fitted if they will sell them.
Further research.
I was wrong, the big players in EV charge points do provide RFID cards which you link to a payment card in your account, or use a smartphone app. I am quite taken with Shell's approach to pay as you take/all welcome. And in a way it is a natural successor to hunting them out for their high octane petrol (V power) for an S2000. There are Shell stations with charge points along the A11/A14 at 47, 12 and 6 miles from home. I don't think the Shell stations on Waitrose sites are being equipped with EV chargers (no room at my local as @noodels will concur). BP's approach is the Polar opposite, literally, they have teamed up with Polar, who have most charge point locations and who you pay £7.85/month, again you get an RFID card or smartphone apps. Athough many of their slow charge points dish power out free they are moving towards fast chargers 15p/unit.
Supermarkets an obvious place. Asda lead the way with 19% having chargers. Waitrose next at 12% rest nowhere. I haven't checked but I would expect at big urban stores not in the sticks. I get the impression you are expected to vacate the charger once you have shopped though e.g. Tesco.
I can see fun and fisticuffs there
Our local BP (Dereham) put two in but got bollocked for not getting planning permission. Applying retrospectively. Normal for Norfolk
edit: re smart meters.
I can see the fear and I agree big brother but I am NEVER going to charge my car or let my heat pump run in prime time 4pm to 7pm.
Why would I at 25p (or worse)/unit versus 6p/unit in the wee small hours? C'mon people get the right tariff and GYAT
@noodles Waitrose Swaffham (fossil fuel for the van) attendants say they are in discussion to replace the car wash with EV points. Funnily enough I was on my way back from Cleantech near Kings Lynn who deep clean caravans etc Got more work than they can handle with the boom in staycations. Mr Cleantech told me the story of cleaning an oven for doctors living nearby in Wicklewood. They are hunkering down for the second wave, he said.
Intriguing little car, I saw one inside the Wigan Honda dealership whilst my S was being serviced. It was parked next to the Halfrauds car crash Type R, which made it look "better" due to the mad shaped angles on the Civic. Really is a mess that car on the outside. I couldn't help thinking that I'd seen that Honda E face before, on a Renault 4. Does kinda remind me of one. Side on the E is a bit mehh. Cute though I guess.
Thirty grand though for anything like that, is, at this stage in the E revolution, just too much money -for all of the reasons mentioned that challenge its price. Get it towards 20k new, with faster charging, longer range battery, then its game over for everything else. You're brave men with fat wallets. :-)
They are expensive to buy but potentially cheap to run
Up against a Tesla 3 it is smaller, lower range and a lot cheaper
Vs a Renno Zoe it seems expensive but no-one sensible ever bought a Renno
You could get a vauxhall e corsa cheaper too. If you like that kinda thing
It's in a segment of 1 I think.
Having said all that I cancelled my order as I think the UK economy may properly implode shortly. But I am a cynic so who knows eh? No discount was ever offered by Honda.
I guess you only get discount these days when you're trading in a TDCi of sum sort. However, although the govt might not like it, the market is still relatively strong on cheap dervs, as they are very frugal, yet stink, and fuel is dead cheap right now. The longer range is convinient - most give you at least 600miles from your 60 quid supermarket fuel slop. The used market on 'leccy cars in the short term future makes alot more monetary sense for the household wallet. Self-charging cars are the way forward (Toyota are doing that I see), maybe helped by a solar roof. Anything to resist plugging into a wall is a good thing. What a faff and huge inconvenience. I'd suddenly resent drving. Not to mention the disconnect from the driving experience, tech cockpit or not.
Yeah economy is crapping itself right now. So far since lockdown, I have driven 10000 less miles than I would have commuting, due to working from the spare room.
Maybe it's all a big trick this covid lark.... The fuel cost savings means I could potentially afford the upfront cost for the likes of the E. Good try Boris... I'll spend my savings on the house like everyone else.
I agree with your view Tony and would add the problem with the Honda 'e' is they obscure/vary the range remaining according to your personal history. So a few traffic light drag races and you're fked even if lots of the time you drive like Miss Daisy. For me the major 'unique to the 'e' fault' is a totally shyte audio system. Even the upper grade with subwoofer you can't feel any bass and the mid- and upper-registers are muddy/missing respectively. Still I suppose they have a tradition from the S2000 to uphold. It too cost around £30k new had 50-50 weight distribution and piss poor audio. Oh and not to mention, a 'start' button (which of course has been 'improved', on occasion you have to wave the fob over it )
Shared with all Honda since 2017, 'safety' software features which can take over/override you on the brakes and steering. A right pain here in rural Norfolk on back lanes.
Other than that all good easy in/out turning circle fantastic. Gets lots of looks and I look back as I walk away. Been a while!
