Well they found faults uncleared to corroborate my hearsay experience. So at least they now believe my story of failed DC charging due to the car's decision. I sent them this: here is a thread from the honda e forum. My 'e' is now booked in for a longer diagnostic check including they loan me another car (it will be free only on production of my drivers licence and LV= insurance certificate). Not had a discussion yet about hybrid servicing i.e. Honda do the batteries (both 12v and BEV) and reset the spanner while I do the normal car stuff with an indy. They seem to have some tortuous algorithm whereby they do it all and imply it is difficult to separate out. As far as I understand, you are allowed to get servicing done by any competent firm and sustain your service history. My bottom line is that as long as all the road-threatening faults are charging related I need Honda to be in that part of the car and also need Honda Assist cover for that aspect and my view is it should be free of charge while their fault history continues. My only two call outs have been battery and/or charging related.
Honda's own tailored OBD reader/reset device is reputably very expensive and a standard one won't hack it.
A little side issue: I had booked their courtesy collect/deliver back except had a call from matey in Dereham can he collect at 7:30am and leave his own car here oh and £15 charge for the courtesy service. No ****ing way says I go stick your charge. Shortly after I get a call from the dealer another lad to schedule a service slot so I picks 13:00 when the techs come back after lunch (while I stroll out to the local chippie myself). Actually worked out well because with so much shit going down being there in person was handy. The laugh is they had even logged a disposable charge for engine oil filter the prize twerps. The new hire Service leader ex Porsche clocked that and joked it away. She and I exchanged Boxer/S2000 stories.
Standard prices: air filter £57, brake fluid £77, trans fluid £98.
My 3-year service was as per the standard all vehicle sheet (which I have).
Brake fluid was done this time (36 month cycle). pollen filter is 24 month cycle so not done.
Trans fluid is down under a 5 year cycle. It isn't due to be changed until the end of the 5-year service plan.
I have not checked what the service booklet says but I do recall some squit about trans fluid and if in a hostile environment etc
The bottom line is Honda dealers play fast and loose with the servicing in order to be maximising their income and minimising actual maintenance.
It seems to me having a full set of service stamps advertises that a mediocre level of attention has been given and minimal essential fluids and disposables used.
p.s. nothing stamped in my service booklet since the 9/21 visit grrrr so last two annual visits are unrecorded. Luckily I have both receipts. They are a right shambles
There are some Uber plaggy bits on the car I agree
But unlikely to cost you £2k and have you shitting your pants every time you take it past 5k rpm
That BM was built like a tank but the engine and gearbox were made from cheese. My old one had a bottom end rebuild at 50k miles. How long will that last? Turd.
Got in the car Sat am to take the dog out.. nothing, no screens, the mirror cams came on, nowt else
Tested the 12v. 11.8v
Charged it, no issues but pop the charger off and the voltage drops. It's fooked. Apparently there is a TSB out there somewhere for shit 12vs.. made by... Panasonic. My nemesis
I tried honda, had a circular chat, 'we don't want to help' it's out of warranty so off to Halfords, £70 lighter and a healthy voltage
Also bought a booster pack as back up, stashed under the seat (£90)
Aside from tyres and juice first money I have spent on the car I suppose. Off to Chester at the weekend
