Happy Thanksgiving too, I ate a bunch and fell asleep, pretty much like every T-Day goes for us, lol.

we ended up staying at the family’s until 1230 am They’re way out in the ‘burbs but still accessible by Skytrain. We barely caught the last train then had to transfer to the “vomit comet” aka the bus the rest of the way. Reminded me how grateful I am for not having to do that regularly!

 

Do you celebrate Italian style at all or traditional turkey dinner?

 

It was a traditional Thanksgiving, Canadian style. My mom brought over a big tray of lasagna and meatballs, but we are keeping that for tomorrow, as we had our turkey dinner all cooked.

To be honest when we grew up my Italian family really didn't do the Thanksgiving thing, my mom almost never made a turkey. Since I started my own family we have been doing the traditional turkey dinner though.

 

Most of the Italians I grew up with didn't celebrate with the traditional dinner I didn't know if it was a regional thing. Most started with Antipasto and then had mon-eee-got' (manicotti) and lasagna meatballs etc . they would cook a turkey but it usually it was not the main attraction of the meal.
I'm not a big fan of the traditional thanksgiving meal and generally not a big fan of most fall season foods but my Mom, even though she was Italian, loved Turkey dinners so we never had any of the Italian stuff always the traditional meal. She did make a dessert that was Italian iirc it was like a ricotta pie but had an Italian name pastierra I think.

 

Yeah our family was very similar when I grew up.

I like Turkey once a year only, I like stuffing, carrots, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes.

Ricotta pie sounds good
