How's Silver River State Park, Scooter?

Looks like a great venue.

The parking there looks very limited (less than 50). And i'm fairly certain they would not approve of the louder exhausts in such a 'nature preserve'.

But here is an option which is within a mile of that: Silver Springs and Wild Waters.
Silver Springs hosts a HUGE Mustang and Ford show every year that actually requires EVERYONE to pay full admission and they still fill the place up!
But, i think they wouldn't have a problem with us using the back end of the adjacent Wild Waters parking lot which would require ZERO park admissions. I'm fairly certain that they would offer a substantial discount for anyone who did want to purchase admission to either park (ie group buy). But, the use of that space would probably be minimal. What makes it a great location is ... well, LOCATION. It is right on Hwy 40 which is only 30 mintues from I75 and 55 minutes from I95. It is really easy to find and is an area which has been showing some growth lately (Walmart Supercenter, several fast food restaurants, Bob Evans, Outback Steakhouse, ect) However, this is not a city and barely meets 'town' status (uses Marion County Sherrif as enforcement).

I would even think this could be something we could 'test' by having a mini-meet within the next few months I know this is easy for me to say because i am local ... but, this weather is great and i'd like to see if anyone would be interested in just making this a 'come check it out' kind of meet.

Let me know if there looks to be something complicated with either the venue or the 'mini-meet' idea

Sure, let's check it out.

Silver River has cabins and park pagodas, and fields that we can take our cars to. I'm thinking any food will have to be catered. If we get some cabins, we may just get a Latin cabin for drinking and dancing!!

Anyway, I'd prefer country to Urban.

Loved the meet even though i am new to the forum and to the s2000 everyone there was very helpful and fun to be around.
One suggestion that might help is when we first came in there really was no organization to the way that cars parked. What if there were signs as to your parking location by where you are from ie place all the Jax guys together all the Miami and so on. Then if you drove alone or in a group you would have a set spot to meet up. Just a thought. Plus it might make the photo a little easier to set up for.
Another thought is there should be the names and screen names of people on their cars.

i like those. Keeping the smaller communities together will help in a few ways. And putting the screen name/handle on the car and the name badge sounds like a good idea too.

I'm taking notes in case this Ocala meet gets the 'go ahead'

Ocala would be awesome! Heck, just the drive from Scotts place to the track in Gainesville was absolutely beautiful... not 'twisty', but very very pretty and enjoyable. I enjoyed that drive as much as i enjoyed the main group drive.

Edit: as for the name tags, i saw a few people with them on, and thought that it was just a group of peeps that brought their own tags, or that it was an 'event organizer' thing... i wasn't informed at the signup table that they were there, or it was even an option, so i was tagless the whole day <shrug>

that's the thing. It would be impossible to get in and out of Silver River State Park without pretty.

And the group drive would be a piece of cake. I've already got a route to Deland and back.
