I dunno. I think we need to do some first hand investigation of the spots.

My thinking is, just like this year, we would have Saturday at a big happy park with catered food and sponspr tents, make arrangements for hotel (or cabins) and then the track junkies and race fans would group drive to GIR the following day.
can i pay you now?

I agree. There just aren't a lot of venues that fit that around here. Jervey Gant Sports Complex is fairly large ... but is usually FULL with folks and activites already (huge junior football support).

I'll be out researching some spots this week and post em' up here. There are tons of parks here ... just that most only have parking for 10-20 cars at a time

I know there's a spot up there, but I cannot think of it right now.

I know for a fact that American Honda has supported S2KCA Days which is a National meet with fewer in attendance than Saturdays Florida Supermeet.

The $ contributed to the event in 2006 from AH was $10K! Now will AH continue that support if in fact they stop making the S. Who knows, we have a whole year to work on it.

I have the names of the proper people to contact now and will be doing so armed with the results fo this years meet and presenting it in such a way that AH would see value in supporting it.

Companies and or people buy tangiable products, services and ideas or concepts that do one of / or 2 things.

1) It will save you money.

2) It will make you money.

Our presentation has to do one of these, how can supporting the FL Supermeet make AH money.
Honda enthusiasts buy Honda cars . I think Most of the people that have the S also own another Honda or two . I have owned 11 total Honda cars and also have a mower and generator from Honda so they do get something out of it . Thanks for looking into that though Barry . It would be nice for Honda to contribute even if it is not quite $10K

All of the talk of location not being central enough , I think there was PLENTY of notice to let anyone host this meet where ever they wanted to . The Tampa took the initiative and the Tampa people did a GOOD JOB centralizing and trying to make it between both Tampa and Orlando . I have made trips to Orlando for meets . Like others have said it was VERY CLOSE to the Orlando area and anyone that did not show up from that area , too bad , ya missed a good time . There where people from Baltimore , Texas , the Carolinas and Ohio so I am sure if they could make it people in central Florida could have joined too . There was a good showing from Miami and several people from Jax too . I would not hesitate to take the drive to another city to attend a meet . Best of all I am really surprised that all of the talk of issues that are all so MINOR , everyone that I talked to had a great time . Lets try to keep this a positive thread with CONSTRUCTIVE critisism and make the next meet BIGGER N BETTER instead of whipping and beating on each other .

we should look at Don Garlits some more:

--its has a car theme
--caters to car people
--if we give them enough notice we could probably buy the box office and own the joint for the day
--catering and hotels relatively close by

the state park idea is not that appealing (at least to me) with the described limited parking and possible frowning on cars on the grass or whatever lol.

its way early in the game for next year though so lets keep the ideas flowing

I have followed this thread and kinda waited till all the older members posted to see their views. i have a couple of ideas and thoughts. I am new so a little about me... I am 37, have 4 kids and have been to lotso meets. Now I liked the group drive and they location. The food was addressed already and noted. The group drive was great and I was in chips group and yes we cruised and I enjoyed it, but our group was 5 and managable. So small groups were a great idea, which i must admit i wasn't a fan at first.

I would like to point out that even though our cars are not family cars I did bring my 11 yr old daughter and would like to thank people for not making it an uncomfortable environment. I would like to esp thank Chips Wife for makin her feel very comfortable, Maggie for being aware of Nuneya and changing the subject and the lady that helped her tie here shirt, sorry I didn't get your name. She had a great time. I would like to see more kids at the meets... future car club members...

I think a supermeet at a auto-cross track would be awesome. I think that to keep it a one day event maybe there could be some sort of play-off. Like people compete at their local tracks and the top drivers compete at the event location. This would bring some friendly comp and get local groups to rally together to be the best of Florida.

i would also like to suggest that the older, popular, envolved members look around and if they don't know someone go up and introduce your self. Talk to the unfamiliar face and find out what they are into, doing and goals for their cars or whatever. Out of the hundred plus people that where at the meet maybe 3 or 4 people came up and introduced themselves and it was nice to meet you Willie Gee...lol.

but i would like to again say that this was a very well thrown event and Nuneya and i had a blast. you know its a blast when you go home and pass out, and you didn't even drink.

thanks again,

josh

Maybe, next time the meet could be more centrally located. If it would have been located closer to the Orlando it might have attracted more interest.
Man......I remember a time about two years ago when you came from home in GA, to a meet somewhere in JAX and then still made it to our gig in Central Florida, and then back home.....all in the same day. You were Superman in the day. What happened......we missed you....

It was great having you and Nuneya in "lucky" group 7. We are glad you had fun. Nuneya was a great "caboose" communicator Please tell her we both said HI!!!! Enjoy every minute that you can spend with her.

Jan and I were talking about somekind of activity for the +1s to enjoy during the event. Wife pulled out chairs and had a pretty good group of +1s by the end of the day. We need to recognize that the cars bring us together but our sig others may not share the same passions to stand around and talk cars all day.

Believe me I know what you mean about being tired.......it was a 16 hour day for us by the time we got home. I was whipped. You looked it too

I can't wait for the next meet.

Chip

I would like to hear from SO's about what would make the day better if cars is not your thing. We could definately try to come up with something.

I am not sure what we could offer but we wont know if we can or not unless we get suggestions...so let em rip
