I liked the group drive in the morning, This way you are not taking from the meet and vendor time. I do think that S2KI could help out in the future, to "add" to the meet. There is no real benifit to being a member if they won't kick something our way. I don't remember what I paid to attend but it was fine.

I would like to see more vendors selling stuff. It is nice putting my hands on the the stuff prior to purchasing. After talking with Kami speed, I am planning on doing a few more things to my car.

Thank you to Yokohama, I can't wait to see mt jacket.

I don't know what people are expecting meal wise, it was what I thought it would be.

I loved being there, it was nice putting faces with screen names,

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR TAKING YOU"RE TIME TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

that is exactly the feeling I want you to avoid. we had a lot of people trying to do a lot of things. you, your car and its placement were fine. we just had some miscommunications and confusion and that is a direct result of a lack of planning for that part of the meet on our part.

what I am gathering from this exchange is that we do a group photo, have it earlier or set up as part of the initital parking progress and, at worst, we stage the non-S2k cars on the edges of the group or event better... set them up as a group in front and shoot some pics and then have them roll out of frame for an all S2k shot...

No worries. A little more planning on this part and we should be flawless on the group photos

we never intended this meet to be exclusionary in any way. it may have not been open to the "general" public but I thought we made it perfectly clear that all of the members of the site we promoted it on were welcome to attend and, by proxy, you would be welcome to be in any group photo.

If you walk away from this thread feeling like Renderman does right now we have failed completely. We just got a couple wires crossed, thats all.

Just a photographers perpective: Without a bucket truck or some other high vantage point a group shot is going to be marginal at best. Even with my 16 mm lens I was not happy with the shots I got of all the cars. If we had done it during the flat lighting of the mid-day, it would have even been worse. I have a few ideas for the next time but getting over 100 cars coordinated is a formidable photographic task.

Regardless, I think people get the feeling, there was a SEA of nice cars there. I hope I did it justice in my images.

having the next one at a location with a building that we can gain access to the roof from would get us some evlevation. The lighting issue will always haunt us...waiting until late in the day will result in lower numbers. I think capturing the most cars takes precedence over pefect lighting.

lets discuss your ideas chip the next time we meet. i am open to all ideas...

if an auto-x or track day appeals to enough folks (participants or spectating) then i know Gainesville would have the space and may even discount the fees for that kind of exposure.

If Gainesville is too far north then maybe the new track there in Orlando?

Personally ... i think watching S2000's drive hard around a track is almost as fun as actually driving! Think how much more popular Blacknot would be if EVERYONE saw him do this

Also ... making it a 'time attack' style would be fun too. Fastest S2000 gets a trophy/prize?

I think combining a track day with a Super Meet is a great idea. It could easily replace the 'group drives'. If anyone still felt the need to do a 'spirited or scenic' drive on public highways then they could do that before or after the meet.

Yeahbut doing both the same day would be waaay too much.

I'm thinking SuperMeet in Ocala next year. <---- Very centralized, and there are tons of parks scenic spots. Plus the drive in and out would be a scenic drive. There are really really good roads in that area.

Make Hotel arrangements and have an even bigger S2K track day.

a two day event is not out of the question. we would need more planners and people running different aspects of the days but it can be accomplished.

between Gainesville and Ocala there are substantial amounts of resources and support services. However, this is a 6-hour drive for anyone in Miami.
So, a 2-day event may work in their favor.

You guys just let me know what your thoughts and ideas are and i'll start getting some stuff together.

Actually ... i'm picturing Willie Gee giving passengers a few 'hot laps' at the track for $5 each. Kinda like a racers 'kissing booth'

The above post is me being a complete ass as I am not worthy of even driving a golf cart around a track. I am continuing a joke made by speedy in another thread
