My first test drive in a 2005

And if you found the gas door release so quickly, I'd call it lucky.
And what the hell does knowing where the gas door release is have anything with whether the car is right for someone?
Grow the hell up!

What I can't stand is some people who come in here with a "bash S2000" thread. The main points of his original post are the car is slow, too small, crappy shifter, etc. He then proceeds to hammer on most replies to his insulting post. Maybe you like that, but I do not think most do.
I have no desire to let people talk about our cars like this, and thus my comments. If he can't even find the gas door latch, and has the nerve to call the shifter junk, then something just does not add up.
Maybe it's the mechanical side of me, but this car is not for the sales related guy- they can have their M3's and AMG cars. This is a go cart and people need to realize that. There are no creature comforts, and who cares that the am/fm/cd button is big- you can't even see it behind the wheel.
Well, I'm not one of the young ones but I've been around long enough to know that if you are not quite sure then maybe you should look for a different car - the S2000 doesn't appeal to everyone. My Father-in-Law rode in my buddies 04 S2000 and then complained that he couldn't understand why anyone would want one - I've never offered him a ride in my 05.

and it's a good thing you weren't around 5 or 6 years ago when NOBODY knew where anything was on the car
And FFS, this isn't some sort of a secret club in a tree house, if someone is interested in an S2000, we should do our best (as a community) to get them honest information that they may want or need, not,"you can't find the gas filler switch dumbass, go buy some other car!"
the "thing" that got stuck is prolly the latch for the hardtop, you need to lock it back out of the way when you unlatch it as so not to catch the tab connected to the top of the windshield.
to the OP. unfortunately we all have to deal with immature, harsh, and otherwise unsavory characters here, so just take their comments with a grain of salt, for thats all they want is a response to validate their attack ignore them and all is well goodluck and believe me if you do decide to get the s2000 you wont regret it!

While I agree that some of her/his response posts are a bit harsh, you seem to have missed the point that this person wants to buy an S2000.

Not directing this at anyone in particular, but please drop the elitist S2000 attitude and help the guy out.. He's obviously interested in the car.... but is still learning... I was there 7 years ago when I picked up my first Ap1. Cut the guy some slack.. VTECH or VTEC is a mute point..... if I ever meet him, I'll smack him for that, both laugh, and call it a day..

So the guy stated an opinion. I'd hardly say he trash talked your car.
Hell, he said he was going to buy one.
And even if he did, are you just that sensitive?
Even when coming from someone over the internetz?
You sir, have a LOT of growing up to do.
I swear, the maturity level of this forum is taking an ever deeper dive on a daily basis.

Anyway....I'm done arguing on this thread, Master, I really do wish you luck with your search for a car. I'm sure you'll find something that meets your needs and I personally think the S will do so. Not the most feasible car but it is fun to drive, and despite what you may think (due to this thread....and me giving you a hard time here...sorry) the community is great. You will meet several people who love the car and it's always fun to meet new people and cruise.
Once again good luck!
Thank you, i have defended myself a lot on this thread. I originally posted it with logic and i didn't think I was irrationally bashing the s2k, because that was not the point i had intended. Harsh, i didn't mean for anything to be. I understand you LOVE your car and the slightest thing may be amplified. Yet again, im looking to buy one and simply was offering my first up close impression.
I bet I will own one within a month, i simply didn't want to ignore the tranny woe's i saw only to find out someone beat her up before me. Great comments and im currently looking for another s2k in the area to test drive to compare while the dealership changes the fluid and other maintenence. The maintenence light was on like i previously stated...so im hoping it's just the fluid as a few helpful members had pointed out.
For all the people who are staying nuetral and or offering solid information. Thank you, your help is much appreciated

I honestly dont know why I reacted that way because I usually dont!
Anyway, I definitely recommend your plan. If you think something is wrong with that one go out and compare, that's a smart buyer.
As for the maintenance light its fine, they all do it. Its programmed to come on at a certain mileage and can be turned off. I used to work for a Honda dealer and people would bring their car in freaking out about this light and it can be turned off in literally 5 seconds, you don't even need to take it to the dealer to do so. What you need to worry about is if its a CEL....but no dealership is going to put a car on the lot with a CEL. Good luck with your search and keep us updated on the progress and what you decide.
