Default New member interested in S2000...few questions

Hi Everyone
I would say I am a car guy. I have had an Integra, BMW E30 M3, BMW E36 M3, and now a 2012 911 GTS (last 911 where you can actually see the engine).
I love the 911, but I don't drive it that much and I don't feel like fiddling with it too much. Mostly I just like looking at it and feeling smug.
Looking to rekindle the old magic of my youth.
A few questions for readers as I shop for a car:

1. did all the S2000 come with two S2000 specific keys?
2. were all S2000 equipped with factory alarm with separate key fob?
3. did the owners's manual come with a specific S2000 pouch?
4. When does the clutch need replacement?
5. What would you deduct in price per missing VIN tag?
6. How much would you deduct if the car was repainted?
7. How much would you add for OEM hardtop vs Good Replica?
8. What is the headlining of the OEM hardtop?
9. What would you deduct for "excessive" owners, i.e. say three or more?

Thanks much guys

Thanks a bunch. Looking forward

1. two fobs, two master keys, one valet key
2. no factory alarm is not on all s2000. but all s2000 have key fobs, and are equip with immobilizer
3. No, but you could order the pouch as an accessory
4. when it needs replacement. If you can put it in 3rd at 30mph and floor it and it slips, its time.
5. Depends on why, I can't answer this for you.
6. Depends on why, I can't answer this for you
7. probably 3500-4000 for oem if its color matched(not black) and has all oem hardtop hardware and wiring, same for an authentic Mugen. A replica, maybe 1200 at most, Because no oem seals, squeaks, brakets for hardware, no defroster wiring etc.
8. Vinyl that is backed by formed foam
9. what??? Lol, if you're giving someone a hard time for owning three s2000, you must not have owned an s2000 yet.. lol. #9 is ludicrous

North American models:

1. 1 "S2000" fancy key, 1 black Honda key, 1 grey Honda valet key. 2 remote lock/unlock fobs No "alarm" other than what every other Honda car does -- honk the horn.
2. No. See #1.
3. Never seen a S2000 pouch, not even on Ebay. Maybe with very early cars?
4. When it slips. Abused clutch will slip earlier.
5. VIN tags are all or nothing. Need 10 for full "value" (whatever that is).
6. Car only has original finish once. Repaints seldom have all 10 VIN tags.
7. Hardtops were dealer options to my knowledge. Honda produced command higher prices.
8. Have no clue (nor interest in a hard top).
9. Number of owners matters in what way? Condition is all that matters.

They're all used and consequently discarded by their last owner -- un-wanted.

Number of owners really doesnt matter. My first S2k had one previous owner and is in way worse condition than my current S2k which has had 3 owners before me. What matters is how the car was taken care of and the condition of said car.

I am curious on the questions you had for the car before buying. These aren't typical buyer questions and wont do much in the way of determining condition and cost of a car you are looking for (with exception of the VIN question).

Question for you would be, how much do you plan on driving it? Is this going to be a daily driver or a weekend warrior? Plan on doing mods? Is low mileage your goal?

Fat Louis hasn't been here since posting the list of questions nearly 2 weeks ago so I'm guessing he's lost interest.

Welcome!
Number of owners should not count, some of them can't fit so they have to sell the car. LOL
