Found this pic on google, but anyway....red arrows point to the holes you'de want to plug up if you get a AEM or any other cold air.

never used it, but I do like it. Basically similar comptech without a top cover and the carbon. The only thing I have against it is that it doesn't look like it will be getting much cold air as apposed to other intakes, but i do like how it's made to block out most of the heat coming from the engine.

yea the AEM seems like a good choice but I'm still hesitant, I dont know how much you know about Maryland weather but it can definitely flood here, especially in my city, annapolis, because we are right at sea level and all the rivers feed into the bay from the mountains. To make things worse, my brother lost his 300ZX years back to hydrolock when he got caught in a flood. I dunno I guess I just need to be careful and not submerge my car huh? What do you think about there bypass valve thats supposed to prevent it? Do you have that HvRRZ? Also what part of it exactly are you painting?

Honestly phantom if my areas conditions were similar to yours then I would go with the Comptech. Gives same gains basically, probably won't sound like a V2, but it's still ganna sound great. According to what I hear it's not supposed to be able to ingest water due to the carbon lid on the air box, looks great(very close to JDM bling), and best of all t's cheap.

Yea you're right, I mean its not like I've ever driven through 6 inches of water anyway but the comptech would be good just to be safe I suppose, and I don't even know how snow would effect the AEM, hahaha. Sounds like the comptech is the right choice for me right now. Damn I need to move to cali, it would make my life a lot easier. Well, probably not, just more expensive hahaha

I think the FIPK would get the same amout of air as the comptech, i would make a snorkle that would give it ram air from the front air dam. I also think it would be a benifet to cover the air box and not rely on the hood to keep air in and air out.
